6 Popular Myths Related To Bats Busted

What you have known till now about bats was probably wrong. Bats have quite a negative image among humans. While in China they are said to bring good luck and prosperity and many of them in Egypt believed they could cure a wide number of diseases. We have rumours like bats are blind, they are very wild, they can attack us and will suck our blood. This was all because of the myths we had about them. As they are nocturnal and look mysterious that’s why. But we were wrong.

Today we will explain to you and clear you all about all the myths and misconceptions you have in your mind related to bats with the reasons. You might not know that they are the only flying mammal that helps in pollination like honeybees.

Keep reading to know more about them and get away with your fear.

1. All bats are vampires

All bats are vampires

One of the biggest myths we have that all bats are vampires and they want to feed on human blood. Well, this does not hold true. Of the world’s 1100+ species, only three are vampire bats, limited only to Latin America. Vampire bats are very small and they don’t attack humans and suck their blood. They prefer to feed mostly on cattle as compared to mosquitoes who feed on human blood.

2. Bats are ugly or dirty

Bats are ugly or dirty

Bats do not look ugly or dirty at all. Most of the bats have very cute faces. Some of them even resemble deer, rabbits or little Chihuahuas. Similar to cats, bats spend most of the time in grooming their furs, keeping them silky and soft.

3. Bats are completely blind

Since our childhood, we know that bats are totally blind. But this is not true. You know bigger bats can see up to three times better than we humans. Their vision capability varies across species. They have excellent echolocation, which means they make emit sounds to navigate across things so that they have a better idea that where they are going.

4. Bats are flying mice

Bats are completely blind

Bats belong to the group of species known as ‘Chiroptera’ which means hand-wing. They are not related to rodents as they don’t share similar behaviour like them. As, you all know rodents mostly feed on wood, plastic or metal but bat do not as they prefer to feed on pests.

5. Bats try to tangle in your hairs

No! Not at all. Bats do not try to become tangled in your hairs and build a nest over that. In fact, insect-eating bats have an inbuilt sonar system that allows them to navigate through in total darkness at a very spectacular speed. So, if you find any bat swooping around you, they are probably after the mosquito that is hovering above your head. And yes, bats do not build nests at all. Instead, they love to live under already-built structures like caves, walls, trees or ceilings.

6. Bats always hang upside down

Bats always hang upside down

No, bats do not always hang upside down. Bats do not dangle pointing towards downward. They frequently are horizontal position while taking rest on the branch of a tree and not vertical. So, all the myths related to bats are busted today. How many of you knew about this?

Dealing With An Aggressive Cat In A Calm Manner

Dealing With An Aggressive Cat in A Calm Manner

When I think of cats I don’t know why but I’m immediately taken to ancient Egypt with the Pharaohs and all things royal, they seem to walk around as if on a cloud and heads held high, like they own the place. Felines no matter the size or shape has a finesse that comes with ease, a natural air of grace, and a chicness like no other. Cats in the wild can creep up to a meter in proximity to their prey before being noticed, pouncing with speed and agility before the victim has even had a chance to react. Then there are domestic cats that are on a whole other level of being fed, but the survival instinct is never lost, they know where their loyalties lie.

Lastly, we have what I see daily having moved to Europe a few months ago, the street cat, or should I say the ‘Hunger Games survivor, because let’s be honest, on the streets, it’s an eat or be eaten mentality that keeps you alive from day today. I see cats with torn ears, facial scars, and imperfect strides, all indicators of a victor from battle.

Ok yes, it does sound a bit dramatic, but if you have ever tried to fall asleep and a catfight to the death is happening outside the window on the grass area below the block of flats, you’ll know it’s about to go down and there can only be one winner.

Aggressive cats, from what I’ve seen, have increased significantly over the past few years, perhaps it’s a survival personality taking over the species or simply a virus going unnoticed till it’s too late.

Aggression in cats is not new if you are unsure if your cat is showing signs of aggression check out this quick video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XHJFR8gXCE and see what this cat owner has to say with tips and advice to get you started to diagnose the issue.

If they aren’t all of the symptoms being shown, it is never a waste to know what could happen if you are concerned. Let’s take a look at a natural ingredient that just may be the answer you’ve been looking for.

Is CBD Oil Safe for Treating Cats Anxiety

Pet owners are getting to recognize the remarkable effects of CBD for cats. Aside from providing relief from common ailments, they could also help improve behavioral issues in felines. If you are wondering if cannabis can help treat your cat’s anxiety, and if it is safe for them, you want to read on.

Some cats could hardly find anything that gets them anxious, while some might get worried as a result of the smallest changes in their lives. Some owners would result in trying behavioral therapy, while others would seek the advice of their vets, and find the best treatment for them. The link below has some common symptoms of an ailing pet.

You may have given cannabis a thought if you own a pet and need treatment for their anxiety. You are in luck today as we will be discussing the likely reasons why your feline is stressed out. We will also be discussing CBD’s effectiveness for treating anxiety, its safety, and other medical conditions it can help them with.

What is CBD?

CBD or cannabinoid is a compound derived from the leaves of a cannabis or hemp plant. You must understand that CBD and marijuana though gotten from the same plant, are different substances. They have different ways of interacting with the body.

CBD contains little or no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive chemical that makes marijuana a high-grade. Studies have shown that it contains a low 0.3% THC, and that is why it is considered safe for consumption. On the other hand, marijuana contains 30% THC, which alters your mind and can be harmful when administered to felines or any other domestic animals.

What can be causing your cat’s anxiety, and how can CBD treat it?

cat's anxiety

Your cat’s anxiety can be as a result of 2 main factors, and there are:

  • Situation: This can be as a result of what is going on around the cat’s environment. It can be because of an unfamiliar and loud noise, for example, fireworks, thunderstorms, or heavy whirling sounds due to blowing winds. It can also be as a result of environmental changes, or strangers visiting.
  • Separation: Being apart from members of the family could be stressful for felines. It is also not a good idea to leave animals alone in the house for long.

Signs and symptoms of anxiety in animals

  • Aggression
  • Restlessness
  • Trembling
  • Irregular panting
  • Nervous barking
  • Poo on the floor, even when adequately trained
  • Whimpering
  • Loss of appetite

Despite the above-listed symptoms, cannabis can be very potent when dealing with anxiety, and almost any other condition. It can help to improve the natural state of pets. You can check this website for more on animals and their response to holistic treatment.

Studies show that cannabidiol is mostly used to treat anxiety in pets because of how it performs in the body’s ECS. It helps in soothing the brain function and calming muscle tissues. Which, as a result, calms their nerves and improves their overall state.

There are still ongoing studies to gather more definitive information on what the endocannabinoid system is all about.

Facts are still emerging, as experiments are carried out to learn more about the ECS. Experts believe that the body has cannabinoid receptors in the central and peripheral nervous system that make it possible for it to function effectively.

The receptors that are in the central and peripheral nervous system are referred to as the endocannabinoid system. When the body naturally secretes endocannabinoid substances, it binds with cannabinoid receptors, which in turn help boost the body’s ability to create a natural mood stabilizer.

Cannabis interacts with the ECS, and helps to boost up this process; as a result, it stabilizes the mood of your cats and makes them feel more relaxed and free.

CBD oil isn’t for treating a cat’s anxiety alone. It can also be used to resolve a lot of medical conditions, such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Seizures
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Neuropathic disorders
  • Liver tumors
  • Kidney diseases
  • Blood disorders

It can also resolve minor issues like;

  • Digestion difficulties
  • Diabetes
  • Body pain

Is CBD Safe for your Cat?

Experts say that when CBD oil for cats is administered in its pure state, it is well-tolerated and safe for felines and many other pets. However, studies have shown that pets with liver issues developed an increase in enzyme alkaline phosphate (ALP) during cannabis treatment.

We suggest that you do not administer cannabidiol to animals with liver diseases, because the liver metabolizes it. Also, do not apply it to animals who are already on treatment for other conditions.

CBD Oil for Unconventional Pets Like Our Friend The Pig

Many pet parents are combining their professional veterinary care with alternative natural supportive treatments of CBD oil for their animal friends. Vets year anecdotal success stories from the owners regarding the benefits of the herb. Just as the compound boasts helping humans with a variety of different ailments, it shows promise for helping their companion pets inclusive of the pig.

There are a variety of CBD products on the market; go to https://petcbdcommunity.com/ for advice and guidance, which tout as having a variety of uses for mammalians, including our friendly pet pigs. The attention cannabis is receiving is increasing with each passing year with more scientific studies showing indications that it has the potential to help treat a multitude of ailments such as chronic pain and research is showing promise that it extends to helping animals with health issues.

Indications of CBD Oil for Our Pets

Anecdotal success stories are widespread for humans and the more common companion pets of dogs and cats Who are using the herb. There are owners of unconventional species such as the baby piggies who want to provide the same alternative treatments for their friends and want to know if it will provide the same benefits.

  • If you have a piglet who may be suffering from generalized anxiety, noise phobia, or from being separated, the oil has had extensive studies to show its ability to help with anxiety and stress for humans. There are farms and other customers who home pigs using the product on their animals suffering from these issues with positive results showing much more relaxed behavior and no adverse side effects.
  • Don’t use products containing THC for your piglet. Cannabidiol is one of a multitude of cannabinoids that are found in cannabis and hemp. Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC is also present in cannabis being the compound responsible for the psychoactive component. Your little swine doesn’t need to get intoxicated in order to feel better. Pure CBD oil is a healthy option for their ailments. Make sure to purchase full-spectrum hemp extract meaning there will be no THC allowing for great results without any ‘high.’  For advice on using this herb to treat ailing animals go to this Post.
  • For an animal of any category, this cannabinoid touts to work well in the management of pain. The claim is that scientists are impressed with the results they see in the treatment of chronic pain with the suggestion that there may, at some point, be the potential for a new class of drugs. It shows to be effective in the reduction of general pain with the inclusion of nerve and neuropathy.
  • Many animals in this swine family that have seizures receive potassium bromide or phenobarbital for control of the convulsion, which can be valuable for their quality of life. The downside is that these chemical pharmaceuticals are harsh, and using them for the long-term is harmful to the animal’s liver as well as their other organs, not to mention the adverse effects; the harsher the drug, the more dangerous the side effects. If a piglet is required to take them for their lifespan, it can be detrimental, and in some instances, the drugs may not be effective.

CBD shows to be a compelling benefit in the case of drug-resistant epilepsy cases for children and young adults, with the frequency being reduced for the seizures. There hasn’t been a trial on this animal species, but the consensus is that it is ideally worth trying. Because of the potential for drug interactions, it is essential to speak to a veterinarian before initiation.

  • The compound continues to show benefits in association with inflammation issues. The oil notes as reducing production and potential release of inflammatory cytokines, which are responsible for hypersensitivity, allergy symptoms, and problems with autoimmunity. The suppression of the phenotype that contributes to specific autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis is related to these. With this ability to reduce chronic inflammation, the drug boasts as having a significant impact on aged pig populations suffering from arthritic conditions. This link will lead to information on treating various farm animals with the drug.

The bottom line is that the oil has the potential for being a very healthy and possibly life-saving herb for animals in the swine family. More pet parents and veterinarians see the diverse benefits. The takeaway is that the adverse effects are mild, and the animals aren’t showing signs of building up a tolerance. Follow the vet’s advice to obtain the highest quality product for the best, safest results for your piglet.
