Honey Bees are one of the most important and useful insects among others. No other insect serves human needs as they do. They are not known only for producing honey but also for healing and health-promoting benefits. Since ages, bees are used by the beekeepers to pollinate crop besides harvesting honey from them which we know how useful it is. Honey is used in almost everything nowadays including medicines, beauty products etc. It’s just true that we humans just can’t exist without honey bees as they are literally so important in our lives!

1. Bees are essential for our existence

Yes! That’s true we depend on honey bees for our entire food supply. Forget not to mention about the fibres, spices and medicines in the plants they pollinate. This makes each little bee very important to us!
2. A single worker bee produces about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey

Do you know that worker bees produce about 60 pounds of honey to sustain the entire colony during the winter season? It takes tens of thousands of workers to get the job done. And also, honey is the only edible food that does not get spoil ever!
3. Drones (Male) honey bees die immediately after mating

Well, this is sad but true that male honey bees die after they mate. They serve only one purpose and that is donating the sperm to the female queen.
4. Bees are good at recognising human faces

Honeybees are quite good at recognising humans like we do using “configure processing”. They combine all the pieces together- eyes, ears, lips, eyebrows, nose and mouth to form a recognizable pattern.
5. Bees dance for good food

Like us, bees also get too much excited when they find good food around them. They perform a carefully choreographed “waggle” dance instructing other bees to help find a food source.
6. Bees don’t need a GPS

Honey bees do not require the use of GPS technology as they have the ability to calculate angles. They are pretty good at calculating distances without using a GPS.
7. Bees also have personalities

There is a variety of honeybees in a beehive with varied personalities. Some are workers, shirkers and thrill-seekers. A study conducted in the year 2011 found that an anxious honeybee can be pessimistic showing that bees have some feelings.
