Black and ugly as ever! That is how one can describe the black devils aka blackheads. These tiny creatures have the power to make you look like the ugly version of yourself. They pop up on your skin (well, there is a whole science behind it) and are so stubborn that they will not leave easily. No matter what! Once these unwanted guests show-up on your face, they are there to stay. You will find yourself paying regular visits to the salon to get them removed. The majority of the times it will be a painful process.
But you will have to bear the pain because you can’t afford to show up to your friend’s baby shower with blackheads on your face, can you? Of course not. I, myself have many blackheads on my nose. I remember the time I did not have any and how I took that for granted. I always pitied my friends whose monthly groceries included a pack or two of nose strips and scrubs that were specifically made to eliminate blackheads.
The fact that I did not have to put in so much effort to remove blackheads, made me ecstatic. But one fine day, these ugly little creatures decided to invade my nose. From that time onwards, I spent hours browsing the net using Earthlink Internet to look for home remedies to get rid of them.
Over the years, I have tried many remedies and am sharing the ones that I liked the best with you.
1. Baking soda and water
Baking soda is a very common kitchen item. And if your pantry does not have a pack of baking soda, it is readily available in all grocery stores. All you need to do is buy a pack of baking soda and add water to it to make a paste. Take equal parts water and baking soda (e.g. 2 Tbsp. of each). Then apply the paste on those parts of your face that have blackheads.
Once applied, let it sit on your face until it dries. Then rinse your face with warm water. Do not forget to moisturize your face afterward though as this mixture can dry your skin. As it is capable of doing so, make sure not to use this paste more than twice or thrice a week.
2. Brown Sugar Exfoliator
When you go to grocery stores, a section is dedicated to face washes for various skin problems. Lying between those face washes, you will come across the ones that claim to remove blackheads. Most of them will be exfoliators that contain beads and the companies tend to charge a hefty amount of money for these products. Therefore, I am introducing you to a cheaper (in cost) version of these exfoliators. All you need to have is brown sugar, honey, and lemon juice.
Take 1 Tbsp. of brown sugar and raw honey each. Mix them with 2 Tbsps. of lemon. Apply this mixture on your face in a circular motion. Keep massaging your face with the mixture for around five minutes before rinsing it off. Once you have rinsed your face, apply a moisturizer.
3. Coconut Oil and Sugar Scrub
Coconut oil is famous for being an excellent moisturizer that can be applied to the body and face. Apart from that, coconut oil proves to be a good blackhead eliminator when mixed with sugar. Take coconut oil and sugar and mix them together to form a scrub. Rub this scrub on your face for 1-2 minutes and then rinse it off. You will see that fewer blackheads will be left on your face and it will leave your skin soft and moisturized.
4. Cosmetic clay mask
You can choose from a variety of clays (fuller’s earth, French green or bentonite) for this remedy. Once you have bought your favorite clay, add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or a tablespoon of water to it. Stir it well to eliminate the lumps and make a thick paste out of the mixture. Spread the mixture on your whole face or only the areas that have blackheads. Let the mixture dry before you wipe it off with a wet towel after 15-20 minutes.
However, be gentle to your face when wiping the dry clay off. If you would ask me, I would vote the cosmetic clay mask as my favorite remedy out of all of them. You might think that 15-20 minutes is too long a time to wait for. Indeed it is. But, hey, you do not have to keep waiting for the mixture to dry sitting on the couch idle.
You can always run some errands or tidy your room while it dries. I prefer watching a movie or show on TV with Spectrum TV Packages and get so involved in that at times I forget that the mask is sitting on my face waiting to be rinsed.
