Well, what we are going to talk about something today which is very common. Most of you might be nursing moms who must be feeding their kids right irrespective of thinking about their body figure unlike celebrities or not caring about the location where they can feed their baby. When it comes to baby, who cares all that as they are more important than anything else. But it’s not easy for breastfeeding moms to do this while they are attending a family dinner because they are judged for that and this wrong I guess.
I mean why should someone comment on this thing whether she is feeding her baby in public (family gatherings) or what she is doing? If you have concerns like this, Mom Mellisa Ostroth has answered all the questions which nursing mamas hear at the holiday dinner table.
Ostroth cleared that she hadn’t faced something like this but she would like to share the stories heard from her client. Have a look
The mom of two tells that she had a family member that tells her what to eat and what not to eat while breastfeeding to which she replied why can’t a nursing mom enjoy the holiday fun and breastfeed her baby in a different room.
She took this to her Facebook Page, Milkivity and shared some infuriating things breastfeeding moms have to deal with hearing during family dinner like
“Isn’t your baby too old to be breastfeeding?
Your baby is breastfeeding again you must not be making enough.
You better not eat the green beans it will make your baby gassy.
You can’t drink that glass of wine while breastfeeding.
You’re weaning soon right?”
To this, Ostroth replied, “Uhhh no [hand wave emoji].” She paired this bold thought with a picture of her proudly breastfeeding her toddler in front of a Christmas tree.

Ostroth explained that it is really very hard to breastfeed your kid during the family holiday
“During the holidays, when mothers are getting together with family and extended family, they tend to hear lots of unwanted advice, which is OK, but it’s when they pressure a mother and try to change the way they chose to parent that it becomes a problem,” she explains. “It’s very stressful for many.
“I have mothers tell me all the time about the anxiety they are having over some of the things I’ve mentioned in my post and how to respond to it,” she adds.
She wants to remove the stigma from the minds of women
Saying all this she wants to convey a message to all the nursing moms that breastfeeding during the holiday table with family gathering is nothing to be ashamed of. She also shared a picture along with her husband where she can be seen feeding her baby.
“Here’s a picture of me breastfeeding my 2-year-old right before she digs into her turkey dinner while sitting next to my mother, oldest daughter, and brother,” the mom wrote in the caption to her Thanksgiving dinner post on November 28. BOOM. Just like that.
She says you don’t need to hide or cover while feeding your baby
She continued by saying you don’t need to cover or go anywhere for feeding your child. Breastfeed them wherever and whenever you want whether in a mall or at the dinner table.
By sharing all these thoughts and photos of her breastfeeding she wants to remove the stigma from the minds of women. She wants to encourage them to stay strong and happy.
She continued by saying, “I hope when women have these issues they know they’re not alone and feel encouraged. “Women are still be kicked out of public places and humiliated. Negative comments are given daily,” she says.
“I hope people will read the words and understand what breastfeeding is and to not make breastfeeding mothers feel like they need to hide or feed with a cover on if they wish not to,” she adds.
So proud of her and her positive thinking.
