After two seasons, HBO Max cancels the reboot of “Gossip Girl”

The American teen drama Gossip Girl is based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s Gossip Girl series of novels. The CW aired a six-season adaptation created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

The series follows the unnamed, all-knowing blogger “Gossip Girl” (Kristen Bell), who narrates the lives of affluent Upper East Side high school students (UES). 

Moreover, Serena van der Woodsen, an Upper East Side teen “it girl,” mysteriously reappeared as the series begins (Blake Lively). 

Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen), Vanessa Abrams (Jessica Szohr), Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle), and Ivy Dickens are among the other major players (Kaylee DeFer).

Moreover, Gossip Girl’s international success has resulted in a slew of localized versions.  Although, The show received numerous award nominations and went on to win 18 Teen Choice Awards.  The CW ordered the sixth and final season of Gossip Girl on May 11, 2012.

Moreover,  the season finale aired on December 17, 2012, following the premiere of the tenth and final episode on October 8, 2012. On July 8, 2021, HBO Max began airing Gossip Girl, a spinoff series created by Schwartz, Savage, and Safran.

Although, Gossip Girl must say goodbye for the final time. The second season of HBO Max’s resurrected teen drama will be it’s final. So, here’s the scoop: “GOSSIP GIRL” will not be returning to HBO Max.  

However, according to showrunner Joshua Safran, who announced the news on social media on Thursday. Moreover, If this is the end, at least it was spectacular.

A representative for HBO Max said in a statement obtained by EW. Safran’s remake, with a new cast and narration by Kristen Bell, will premiere on HBO Max in 2021. Moreover,  the old and new Gossip Girl had some significant differences. 

The new show did not attempt to conceal the fact that the bloggers behind Gossip Girl were teachers at the prestigious high school.

Joshua Safran, the showrunner of Gossip Girl, shared a personal message on Instagram on Thursday. The writers for their deft minds and deft talent. Moreover, the superstar cast for being the best collaborators and friends; and the crew for their hard work, dedication, and love of the project,” Joshua continued. ‘From start to finish, this was the best set I’d ever worked on,’ he said.
