American Intelligence sources stated that the Chinese Spy balloon was part of China’s surveillance program. The officials said that the precise size of the surveillance balloon is unknown. Several balloons have been sighted in different parts of the world, but all were different. The one sighted on the coast of South Carolina on Saturday was different.
The recovered part of the balloon is at a government lab in Quantico. The FBI team is trying to gather maximum information to track and terminate such future surveillance balloons. The team is trying to understand the technical capabilities of the balloon and what type of data it can intercept. The real challenge is understanding whether the Chinese military was collecting real-time data or a device was attached to store it.
The US commander Gen. Glen VanHerck admitted that the country had a “domain awareness gap” due to which balloons remain undetected in US airspace.
US president Joe Biden also warned China officials during his State of the Union address. China officials are not ready to comment on the balloon found in the US. They argue that the weather balloon drifted due to wind and reached the United States accidentally.
As per US intelligence, the Chinese government has been aggressively stealing American defense secrets for a long time. US officials and intelligence believe that China’s explanation of the same is not credible and it was done intentionally. There is one more doubt by the officials regarding the resemblance of the technology used in the spy balloon.
