In a recent post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump accused Judge Arthur Engoron in his New York business fraud case of engaging in fraud to tarnish his reputation. Trump claimed that Engoron and New York State Attorney General Letitia James undervalued his properties intentionally to make him look bad. According to Trump, this undervaluation was an attempt to support the judge’s earlier finding of fraud, which Trump deems as “ridiculous.” He further criticized James, calling her the “most corrupt & incompetent A.G. in the Country.”
Trump, facing accusations of inflating his net worth to deceive lenders and banks, has seen the court determine that his net worth was indeed inflated, and his properties were worth significantly less than claimed. Judge Engoron is tasked with determining the penalty for these actions, with James seeking $250 million in damages.
Additionally, Trump accused Engoron of being James’ “complete and total puppet.” The judge has imposed a gag order on Trump, preventing him from discussing Engoron’s staff after Trump attacked one of the court law clerks online.
This latest development adds tension to an already contentious legal battle, with Trump openly challenging the credibility of the judge and the attorney general involved in his case. The case centers on allegations of fraudulent financial practices by Trump, and the accusations and counter-accusations continue to shape the narrative around the proceedings.
