Bryce James, the son of LeBron James has returned to the place from where he once started his flight. Indeed, Sports Illustrated reports that he has made his second transfer during his high school career. Naturally, this transfer news has startled the fans and the entire high school basketball scenario.
In May, the 16-year-old initially targeted Campbell Hall before opting for Notre Dame High School over the summer. Sources informed SB Live that Bryce, a 6-foot-6 junior shooting guard, officially withdrew from Notre Dame High School and returned basketball equipment on Tuesday. Previously, Bryce spent his freshman and sophomore years at Sierra Canyon, where he played alongside his older brother Bronny James. Bronny is currently a freshman guard at USC.
According to SB Live, James is currently undergoing the process of transferring back to Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth, Calif. This marks his third move within the span of six months. Under the CIF Southern Section’s A-B-A rule, Bryce will be eligible to play immediately at Sierra Canyon, as he did not participate in any games for Notre Dame. Had he remained at Notre Dame, he would have only been eligible for the first half of the season, in accordance with the state’s transfer rules. The decision comes to light following Bryce’s involvement in summer basketball with Campbell Hall.
Bryce’s Lakers superstar father, who achieved the milestone of becoming the first player in NBA history to reach 39,000 career points on Tuesday, expressed his joy for the teenager on Instagram. He shared a post from Slam magazine that announced, “Bryce James Back to Sierra Canyon!”
He is recognized as a prospect in the 2025 class and was extended an offer by Ohio State after visiting the school last month. His visit coincided with the Buckeyes’ 37-17 victory over Maryland on Oct. 7.
