Pusha T and Malice, who make up Clipse, are back with Let God Sort Em Out, their first full album in almost 16 years. The album came out on July 11 through Roc Nation, and it shows that they are still the best in rap.
Pharrell’s Movie Making
Pharrell made the whole album himself, and it was put together in his Louis Vuitton studio in Paris and their base in Virginia. The beats are haunting and exact, linking the roughness of their early work with a more mature movie-like vibe. A recent Instagram photo showed Pharrell and Clipse having a good time in the LV studio while listening to unreleased songs.
Feelings in Every Verse
Clipse starts with “The Birds Don’t Sing” and then talks about how sad they are over their parents’ deaths. Pusha T said that writing the verse was “the hardest verse I’ve ever written,” showing real emotion that goes beyond bluster.
Strong Guest Appearances
Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Nas, John Legend, and Stove God Cooks are all on the album. The Kendrick song “Chains & Whips” made headlines because of a fight between record labels.
This is more than a reunion; it’s a reclamation. Their lyrics are incisive, their stories are real, and Pharrell’s production is like a movie. This project “reignites rap’s hard reset,” as Interview Magazine put it.
