The brand new husband and wife appeared together on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ Do you know what they say? Sometimes, a dog can be your best matchmaker. Billy Ray Cyrus owes a lot to his dog Tex because Tex introduced him to his wife, Firerose, over ten years ago.
The recently married couple sat down for a chat on The Kelly Clarkson Show, telling everyone how they first met 14 years ago. At that time, Firerose had just finished an audition in Hollywood.
Firerose recalls the story with a smile, saying, “It’s actually quite a funny story. Billy’s dog, Tex, who was the most gorgeous German Shepherd you’ve ever seen, seemed to have a special mission. Back then, we were just good buddies.”
Billy Ray was married to Tish Cyrus for 28 years, during which they separated and filed for divorce three times. They kept getting back together, but in April 2022, Tish filed for divorce for the final time. The divorce papers mentioned that they hadn’t lived together since February 2020, and the reason was irreconcilable differences. Billy Ray had previously shared the story of how he met Firerose in an interview with People. He revealed that they crossed paths on the set of the TV series “Hannah Montana,” where he acted alongside his daughter, Miley Cyrus.
He fondly remembered his time on the Disney Channel show, which aired from 2006 to 2011, saying, “I loved doing that show. There are a couple of old pine trees on the lot that remind me of Tennessee. [My dog] Tex and I used to go there in the middle of the day, and he’d take care of his business, and we’d stretch, and I’d think about how much I missed Tennessee. On that particular day, Firerose walked out of the front door. There was a moment of recognition. I thought, ‘This girl’s a star.'”
After Firerose petted Billy Ray’s dog, she mentioned that she had an audition that day but didn’t get the part. He decided to help her by introducing her to some of the show’s producers and other important people he knew.
The 62-year-old “Achy Breaky Heart” singer and Firerose tied the knot on October 10 in a beautiful ceremony celebrating their love. In a social media post, they wrote, “10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony.” The post included a picture of the happy couple hugging on a mountaintop. Billy Ray chose a classic black suit, while Firerose wore a long-sleeved lace gown with a flowing veil, and her makeup was done by Jessica Candage.
The couple got engaged in August 2022.
Billy Ray and Firerose got married less than two months after Tish married Dominic Purcell, known for his role in “Prison Break.” Their wedding was a small, intimate affair, and Miley served as her mother’s maid of honour. Besides Miley, the couple has three other children: Trace, 34, Braison, 29, and Noah, 23. Tish has a daughter, Brandi, 36, from a previous marriage, and Billy Ray has a 30-year-old son named Christopher Cody from a previous relationship with Kristin Luckey.
