What is the Process of Dermarolling?

Dermarolling refers to a type of microneedling that works to restore and rejuvenate skin’s overall appearance. In recent years, dermarolling has gained popularity, not just among celebrities, but among your average everyday consumer as well. Dermarolling is considered to be a cosmetic procedure and is extremely popular among both men and women today! It’s especially gaining popularity in the at-home market. At-home dermarolling is far less invasive than other forms of dermarolling, and it also has proven to be highly effective in rejuvenating skin’s appearance when compared to other treatment options on the market.

Throughout the dermarolling process, thousands of tiny needles are inserted into the top of the skin in a rolling fashion, as the name would suggest. The tiny needles being inserted create microscopic abrasions, and those abrasions tell the skin that more collagen and elastin are needed in the punctured region. Both collagen and elastin are critical to skin health, as collagen works to hold the body’s connective tissue together in the muscle, skin, cartilage, and tendon regions. The more collagen and elastin that are produced in the punctured region, the better the overall appearance of the skin will be after healing.

There are companies today, such as CO2Lift, that specialize in carboxytherapy and other skincare treatments for at-home use. They offer their customers a Dermaroller System or a state-of-the-art microneedling kit. These kits also come with 3 CO2Lift face masks that can help to speed up the healing process associated with dermarolling. These CO2Lift masks promote blood flow to the dermarolled area, and the increase in blood flow helps to promote a quicker healing process.

Is Dermarolling Safe?

Dermarolling may come off as a scary concept to many, especially if they’ve never considered a treatment option like it before. However, dermarolling is entirely safe for at-home use. Again, as we dermaroll, we’re creating small, microscopic abrasions to the surface layer of the skin. However, these are what dermatologists refer to as “controlled skin injuries”. This means that, although it may be physically puncturing the skin, it’s not actually causing any damage or harm to the skin itself.

Rather, it’s helping the skin to break down its scar tissue. Temporary irritations are common with dermarolling, such as a minimal amount of superficial bleeding or discomfort. As mentioned previously, however, if you decide to use CO2Lift’s Dermaroller System, they include the CO2Lift masks that also work to promote quicker healing to the dermarolled region.

All in all, you can rest assured knowing that dermarolling is entirely safe and a great option to consider when looking for ways to improve skin appearance and overall skin health.

How Does Dermarolling Work to Improve Skin’s Appearance?

But how exactly does dermarolling work to improve skin appearance? There are a few different ways that at-home dermarolling can help to enhance your skin, as outlined below.

1. Helps with blood vessel formation

Dermarolling plays a critical role in the formation of blood vessels. It helps to thicken our skin’s exterior, and over time, it also helps to stimulate angiogenesis, which is a process that builds stronger blood vessel walls in the body. It also plays a vital role in increasing overall blood flow to the dermarolled region by creating more connective tissue.

2. Increases collagen and elastin levels

Collagen and elastin are both vital to skin health, and dermarolling helps to increase the amount of both being produced within the body. Collagen helps to increase the firmness and strength of skin, while elastin allows the skin to expand and stretch. Both of these in combination with one another allow the skin to become tighter and more structured.

3. Brightens skin

As collagen levels increase, your skin will become brighter and have a more youthful glow to it. It also helps to regenerate skin cells, which work to eliminate dark spots typically found on the skin, especially throughout the aging process.

4. Stimulates regeneration in dermarolled region

Last, but certainly not least, dermarolling helps to stimulate the regeneration of the skin in the dermarolled region. The microscopic abrasions that result from dermarolling promote the regeneration of the skin in that area. It also helps increase the production of anti-aging elements in the body, which can greatly improve the skin’s appearance.

It’s no secret that dermarolling is becoming especially popular in today’s society for its ability to improve skin appearance. However, you may not have known that dermarolling can now be done from the comfort and safety of your very own home. Consider trying out an at-home dermarolling kit. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the improvements you will see in your skin appearance and overall health!
