The Star Trek world is boldly going into new ground again, this time with an audio series that goes deep into one of its most famous bad guys, Khan Noonien Singh. At the height of San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Star Trek officially announced Khan: Ceti Alpha V, an immersive story podcast that has fans all over the galaxy excited.
Nicholas Meyer, the writer-director of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and the famous successor to Ricardo Montalbán, tells the story of Khan’s exile and spiral into obsession on the harsh planet Ceti Alpha V in this six-part audio drama. This series connects the story of the original episode “Space Seed” to the events of the 1982 movie. Here is the official announcement from StarTrek.com.
A New Way to Tell Star Trek Stories
This publication from Paramount is part of the growing audio fiction market, following the success of other popular sci-fi podcasts like Marvel’s Wastelanders and Batman: Unburied. As more and more people listen to stories on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, this move shows a change in how the company wants to connect with its audience.
Khan isn’t simply a bad guy; he’s a reflection of how much people want power. The show uses sound to create a mood, evoke feelings, and give viewers an eerily close look at Khan’s mind. Expect echoes of Wrath, but this format will give you fresh depth and rawness that you can’t get anywhere else.
