E-EPIC is a digital version of Voter ID Card. On Monday because of the National Voters Day celebration, the election commission of India launched the e-EPIC initiative. It stands for Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card programme. Union Minister for Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad talked about it in an official statement. This digitisation format will help people to create digital formats of voter ID cards that will be available online. They can make it with the help of other identify cards available online such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, and driving licence.
This move will help people to get quick access to the document. Moreover, the digitisation of the Voter ID is going to have significance in the upcoming polls in states such as Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and West Bengal. Here is all the information you need about E-EPIC Card.
What is an E-EPIC Card?
The E-EPIC Card is a secure digital version of the Voter ID Card. It comes in a non-editable format. Also, it contains a safe QR code along with image and demographics such as numbers and other details. The digital formats can get stored in computer and mobile phone. Furthermore, the users can also upload it on Digi locker and get it printed or self-laminated. It will be available in the portable format PDF and the size will be 250 kb.
Where to download the E-EPIC Card?
You can download the E-EPIC Card from Voter Portal, NVSP or with Voter Helpline Mobile App. The facility for download is from 11.14 am on Monday.
Steps you can follow to download the E-EPIC Card
For registered mobile number
- You can log in to https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/
- Then in the main menu press the option ‘download E-EPIC’.
- Now enter the EPIC Number or Form Reference Number
- An OTP will be sent to you for the verification purposes. Enter it to verify
- Then click to download the form
For non-registered number
- If the mobile number is non-registered in the electoral poll press e-KYC to complete the KYC
- Now perform the verification
- Update the mobile phone to finish the KYC
- Then download the e-EPIC
Are you eligible for e-EPIC?
According to the ECI, the e-EPIC initiative will take place in two phases. The first phase from January 25 to January 31 is for the new voters. They are the ones who have applied for the fresh voter-ID card. Then they also would have registered their mobile numbers at special summary revision 2021. These new voters can download the e-EPIC by the process of authentication of their mobile number. The mobile numbers have to be unique and should not have been registered in the electoral poll of ECI.
The second phase of the initiative will happen from February 1. This will be open for all the general voters who have got a valid EPIC number and a linked phone number with ECI. The voters whose mobile numbers not linked will have to do it to get the e-EPIC download feature.
These are the processes a voter has to perform quickly to get the digital version of Voter ID. This is a great benefit for many voters.
