Me and my friends were looking for a package to take a trip around darjeeling, that was cost effective but also memorable and a soulful experience. After considering and going through a lot of positive reviews, we decided to book our trip with Thrillophilia. Thrillophlillia provided us with a perfect package which suited our budgets and most importantly we had the best experience just as mentioned in many reviews of Thrillophilia.
1. Landing and checking in by courtesy of Thrillophillia
On the first day of our trip, we were welcomed by a representative who was waiting quite patiently for us, at Bagdogra Airport in a clean, spacious, comfortable and well sanitized Fortuner. He took us to the hotel where the checking in process was hassle free as everything had been meticulously planned by thrillophilia. On reaching the hotel we were offered tea by their staff and shown to our rooms along with our luggage.
We spent the rest of the day at leisure and visited the local market where we shopped for some lovely souvenirs and visited the nearby attractions. Later, we enjoyed an amazing overnight stay at the hotel after having a delicious meal arranged by Thrillophilia.
2. Kanchenjunga and Ghoom Monastery
The second day was all about sightseeing. We started with Tiger hills early in the morning and got a chance to see the most beautiful sunset at this place. We also saw the peaks of Kanchenjunga mountain being highlighted by early morning rays and it was really hard to take our eyes off it. Next we visited the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling – The Ghoom Monastery which is a monastery known for its 15ft high statue of the Maitreya Buddha. The place was surrounded by nature and was quite peaceful.
After spending some time there , we moved to our next location, the spiral railway , also called the Batasia Loop. Here, the track spiraled around over itself through a tunnel and over a hilltop, surrounded by lush green trees and beautiful flowers.
3. Our visit to mountaineering institute and Zoological Parks
After our trip to Batasia Loop we came back to the hotel, had a warm and delicious meal arranged by Thrillophilia and gathered some energy to go back to sightseeing. Later we visited the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute , a very known institute founded by Jawaharlal Nehru to impart skills to those who want to take up climbing activities as a career. After touring the institute we visited the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, being a Zoo on the highest altitude in India. We saw a variety of Himalayan species of animals and birds.
Next up was Tenzing Rock and the famous Tea gardens.Tenzing rock is a gigantic natural rock and a great place to test your rock climbing skills whereas the famous Tea gardens offer a calm and peaceful environment and are a must visit place for their beauty and the freshness. After a long day but a peaceful experience, we headed back to the hotel and enjoyed a hearty meal arranged by Thrillophilia.
4. Adventure activities and rivers
On the third day of our trip, we visited the Japanese temple and also enjoyed a ropeway ride. Ropeway or CableCar – a 5 km long ropeway is one of the most popular activities to do in the town as mentioned in several thrillophilia reviews. The ropeway travelled over dense forests, mountain ranges, water falls, flowing rivers, verdant valleys, and tea plantations, providing a breathtaking view.
Later we visited the Japanese Temple which is one of the wonders of Darjeeling. It is a Buddhist temple, also called the NIpponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, located near the Peace Pagoda which is an emblem of peace and spirituality. After a long day, we retired to the hotel after enjoying a scrumptious meal arranged by Thrillophilia.
5. Markets in Mirik
We left for Mirik, a small town and a Notified Area of Darjeeling district, on the last day of our journey, after a great breakfast. Mirik is a gorgeous and one of the most famous tourist attractions ensconced in the calm hills just as mentioned in several thrillophilia reviews. Mirik Bazaar was a must-visit as we had a wonderful time at this place shopping for souvenirs as well as enjoying some street food.
We also got a chance to take in the lifestyle, culture, and livelihood of the local people which made the experience far more interesting. On our way back we stopped at Pashupati market which is located on India-Nepal border and is specifically known for cheap imported electronic gadgets, jackets, perfumes, cosmetics and of-course clothes.
Our trip to Darjeeling concluded as we said our goodbyes to the magnificent location and returned to the hotel to finish our check-out procedures. Our guide later, who was very supportive, drove us to the airport, where we caught our trip back home. Overall, I had a fantastic time and would certainly recommend thrillophilia to anyone trying to arrange an unforgettable trip with their family and friends.
