Carson Hocevar is becoming a prominent name in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. In fact, he has become the biggest surprise of this season. The 19 years old driver stepped into the racing arena in 2019. However, in his just second full-time Truck Series season, he has been able to set heads turning.
Interestingly, he has not been able to make it to the victory lane. However, he has made three top-three finishes in his 13 races. Now, this number already matches his total from 2021. Moreover, he has 208 laps led to his record. This ranks him third in this series. The only two drivers ahead of him are, Zane Smith with 269 laps led and Ben Rhodes with 224 laps led. Carson Hocevar is Close But Not Enough
Carson Hocevar has had an eventful season this time. In fact, he made back-to-back second-place finishes on the asphalt at Darlington Raceway and at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race. Both the results came early this season. In fact, in his last five races, he had led laps in four. Therefore, there is a lot of expectation already building up on him.

However, the main issue with most younger drivers is their consistency. In fact, the racing career is all about being consistent. It is never about one or two great finishes. Carson Hocevar is having a similar issue with his consistency. He has made it to the top 10 on six occasions. However, he has also finished outside the top 15 on five occasions. Moreover, he has also been caught up in certain controversial situations.
For instance, take the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, in late May. During that event, Hocevar was in the position to win his first career race. There he lined up on the front row with Ryan Preece, on a double-overtime restart. Preece was squeezed into the backstretch wall by Hocevar and he spun in in Turn 4. However, none of these two drivers won the race. Instead, Ross Chastain made it to victory.
Again, in the following week at World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis, Carson Hocevar faced hard luck. In fact, he ended up breaking a bone of his ankle, in a wreck. However, the injury was not able to slow him down. In fact, he went on to win the pole award. Moreover, he finished sixth at the Sonoma Raceway, the following week. However, after that, an engine problem relegated him to the 35th-place at the Knoxville Raceway.

Is A Cup Series Move Waiting for Hocevar?
Carson Hocevar has been really impressive this season. In fact, he seems to have caught the sight of the executives at Niece Motorsports. Therefore, if we find Carson suddenly in some 2023 Cup Series races, that would not be a surprise.
