A former Meta recruiter claimed on TikTok that she earned 190k annually despite the company not actively seeking new hires throughout her employment there.
Social networking platforms like Facebook and Instagram are hugely popular, and giant tech Meta previously controlled this market. However, because CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently stated 10,000 layoffs would take place throughout the organization, Meta has recently experienced funding problems.
Even a TikTok user wanted to provide a little information into what was going on at Meta and highlight how she was being paid incredibly incredible money, despite not accomplishing anything.
On her TikTok, TikTok user Maddie macho begins by discussing her time working at the tech giant, claiming she was “getting paid 190k to do nothing at Meta.” She added that when she was employed, Meta did not intend to hire anyone for the next six to twelve months.
When I was hired at Meta, and I was a recruiter, we weren’t expected to hire someone for the first six months and even the initial year. And now we are supposed to employ anyone for the first six months, even the first year. They inform you of that beginning.
Maddie seemed slightly mystified at this idea and questioned why she hadn’t performed the position’s duties for the first 12 months. She didn’t need to employ anyone, so she could sit back and get paid insanely high sums of money at the company.
She added that instead of having her employ additional staff members, Meta spent a significantly huge amount of time on her orientation and training. That shocked my brain. I was like fantastic, I’m just trying to ride that out in a year. I made that but, you know.
“So what do they do all day? You’re gaining knowledge. They have great training and onboarding processes… The expectation is that when you start true, you simply learn and take it all in. She then eventually shared what she felt to be the craziest thing of her time at Meta: the sheer volume of group meetings when nobody was hiring either.
We held so many group meetings, which is the surprising part. Why are they meeting? We are hiring no one. Also, I was in a department where everyone was new, so none of us were recruiting anybody. Simply put, we were all attempting to make sense of everything.
None of us knew the answers, so we’d question our boss, and she’d be like, ‘I don’t know’ cuz she was inexperienced too.” With the news of 10,000 job cuts just one week ago, Meta has just joined the pattern of digital businesses mass-firing workers.
