It is good news for all anime lovers that Metamorphosis anime will be out very soon. However, the exact release date is yet to be revealed. The anime was initially rumoured to be released in 2023. This manga story has quite explicit content in it. These cannot be featured on screens. It is inspired by Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis. Therefore, the name and dark plot and similar themes about transformation are predominant. It is infamous for its ending. The ending of this manga is known for being a total turn-off to all hentai readers. This is probably because it is a little too realistic.
The story is written and drawn by L Shindo. It has been serialized by Comic X-Eros in Japan. This was digitally published by FAKKU Books on November 10, 2016. The story revolves around Saki Yoshida, who is a shy, friendless student. After she graduated from middle school, she decided to make more friends. This was her attempt at transforming her image from a quiet, glasses-wearing girl to a sex-addicted gyaro. Particularly, soon after her first day in high school, an older guy called Hayato flirts with her. Saki falls head over heels for him. Before she realizes this, the girl has lost her virginity and is getting addicted to drugs. Things only get worse from here onwards.
The title of this manga means ‘transformation’, which is said to be inspired by Franz Kafka’s story title. This was serialized in Japan and goes by the titles Henshin and Emergence. The story plot is quite controversial. It has sparked the internet of the sexual content and drug abuse depicted in the manga.
When will this manga be released?
Many speculations surrounding the official release of Metamorphosis anime have come up. Initially, it was supposed to be released in 2022. But gradually, as the year ended, everyone realized that it was just a rumour.
After this, it was rumoured to be released in April 2023. Many blogs were written regarding the episodes and content of the anime, which discussed the manga in detail. But now we assume the release has been delayed further as we see no clear sign of any news about the release. Moreover, the year 2023 has officially ended. There is no exact date that we can claim for its release. In fact, we are not even certain about its production.
This is a manga series which became famous during 2016-2017. The interesting part is that it is still discussed excessively. Few people appreciate it for the picture quality and work, while others call it tragic and extremely realistic. This has made people connect to it and that is how it gained its fame. It especially became famous through a meme, YouTubers. The memers often call this manga, ‘Cursed”.
What is the trailer all about?
The manga, unfortunately, has no official trailers released by any anime studio. However, there are several fan-made trailers available on the internet. One may get confused by the fine editing of these fan-made ones. However, one thing that needs to be clarified here is that no studio is willing to adapt this anime. Not even the reckless and boldest ones are ready to take it.
There are several reasons for this. Firstly, people believe that it depicts immense explicit and dark content that should not be shown on screens. Even the people who indulge in bold Manga and anime were left in shock, especially by its horrendous content.
It can be assured that there is no confirmed trailer released till now. We assume it is because either it is delayed or it is never going to be adapted into anime.
Who are the cast of this manga?
In this manga, there are mainly two characters who are in play. The main character is Saki Yoshida, the poor fated girl and Hayato. Although there are supporting characters in the story, we will focus on the protagonist and antagonist here.
Saki Yoshida: She is an introverted girl who is the main character of the story. The protagonist turns out to be the odd one out among her surroundings. She has no friends, nor has she gotten into relationships. The girl developed an inferiority complex that she could never match other friendliness. When she enrolled in high school, she decided to bring a change in herself. This was when she started wearing nice clothes and started making friends. She even made a few friends on the very first day of school. But unfortunately, she attracted a man’s attention as well. He lured her into his traps, made her addicted to drugs and sexually abused her, which ruined her life. She finally faced a tragic end.
Hayato: He is the guy who has a sweet façade. But he was an evil soul. He became involved with Saki and took her on dates, praised her and forced himself on her. Saki’s ignorance and naivety considered it a good sign that she finally grabbed a man’s attention. But Hayato is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He drugged her, abused her, raped her, and even created circumstances that she started prostitution. He humiliated her and ruined Saki for good.
What are the few tropes used in this manga?
There are many tropes used in this manga. But we will talk about a few only. Here is the list:
- Compensated Dating: Saki, the shy, friendless student, engages in this to gain more money. She wanted to buy fashion accessories. We can just say the limits between “dating” and “prostitution” are crossed very quickly.
- Crapsack World: This is the only thing that could be said about the setting, considering how many awful people Saki meets in quick succession.
- Downer Ending: Saki is viciously assaulted by her former classmates, who don’t even recognize her and steal all her money. This was after they took turns kicking and stomping on her stomach. The incident causes her to have a miscarriage. This causes her to realize how far she has fallen. Upon concluding that she has nothing left to live for, Saki deliberately overdoses on the rest of her heroin and dies alone and forgotten in a filthy bathroom.
- Drugs Are Bad: Saki’s growing addiction to more and more drugs does not help her at all. Rather it made her get abused or give “service” without being paid. It reaches such a point that she chooses drugs over cash as payment for her “services”. This led her to get kicked out of Hayato’s apartment. This was because she could not cover his loan to Obata-san. Even when she is pregnant and decides to keep the baby, swearing to never do drugs again, she regularly shoots up as she fails to bear the withdrawal symptoms. She ultimately died of a heroin overdose. She committed suicide.
What are some of the criticisms that surfaced?
Some critical factors that surfaced as we skim through the plot are:
- Driven to Suicide: Saki decides to take a lethal dose of heroin at the end of the story. She submits to death.
- Dying Dream: Saki has one of living with her infant daughter for a better future. The dream died with her.
- Exploitation Film: This is the manga version of an exploitation film. The story is mostly about the sexual and psychological degradation of Saki.
- Friendless Background: Saki faces this as a result of her shyness. Later in the course of the story, trying to get friends only sets her on a worse path though.
- Hate Sink: This is nearly about all of the characters surrounding Saki. Beginning from her abusive parents to her boyfriend Hayato, to her female so-called “friends”, to all the men who rape poor Saki. The girl protagonist is pretty much cursed.
What was the reaction of the netizens?
Netizens have called it cursed, horrible, extremely erotic, and dark for their liking. However, some people have still commented on the fine portrayal of characters, which is the reason for its popularity. However, the writer emphasizes the story and claims that it was for learning purposes instead of pleasure.
Conclusion
As we conclude, metamorphosis anime is not certainly being adapted into anime anytime soon. Regardless of rumour, no studio will be willing to produce and direct it unless it is an erotica-making studio. However, only the fans can have the last chance to bring it to the screens.
