Amber Heard is seen in the new TV trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It gives a glimpse of her playing the character of Mera. Before the release of James Wan’s new Aquaman sequel, DC Studios unveiled a new TV spot briefly highlighting the sequel’s most controversial character, Mera.
The character is shown to be played by Amber Heard. This has made some internet commentators quite unhappy. The final DCEU entry is at last upon us. It marked the end of Zach Snyder’s SnyderVerse with the sequel to Warner Bros.’s billion-dollar hit, Aquaman (2018).
Arthur Curry, the Atlantean King played by Jason Momoa, will reprise his role for the movie beside an all-star cast. This includes the likes of Patrick Wilson, who plays Orm/Ocean Master, Temuera Morrison, who plays Thomas “Tom” Curry, Nicole Kidman, who plays Atlanna, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who plays Black Manta. Arthur juggles his new job with being a first-time father and husband. Everyone is not happy with the ascent of the throne. This is especially Black Manta, who has some unfinished business with Aquaman.
With the exit of Momoa as Aquaman and the conclusion of DCEU before the takeover at DC, many analysts have suspected this sequel to flop. This can be due to the hefty price tags combined with weeks of costly reshoots. Amber Heard’s Mera has no credit for it. Heard, without a doubt, suffered the cultural wrath of speaking out against a man as widely beloved as the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
It has led thousands of fans to call for her firing from Justice League (2017) and Aquaman. Similar sentiments were echoed when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom began production. According to Heard, led to director James Wan trimming her role in the film short.
