First of all, we will briefly tell you about the murder of Gabby Petito by Brian Laundrie. And then we will get into legal conflicts between the two families. And the note recently found in Brian’s notebook. Stay with us throughout the end if you are curious as well.
Gabby Petito murder case
In August of 2021, Gabby Petito was murdered by her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. This happened while they were travelling together in a van across the United States. It was a journey in a van throughout the states. The trip began on July 2, 2021, and Petito disappeared in late August.
After Petito went missing, Brian Laundrie was suspected by the police. It was when he drove Petito’s van from Wyoming back to his parent’s house in North Port, Florida. Besides, when asked about her he did not give straight replies. In addition, he became the prime suspect in the case, and an arrest warrant was issued on charges of making withdrawals using Petito’s debit card. Laundrie fled from their Florida home on September 13 and was reported missing on September 17.
However, on 19th September Petito’s remains were found at Bridger–Teton National Forest in Wyoming. After examining the body it was found that she was killed by manual strangulation. Meanwhile the search for Brian Laundrie began and after a month of thorough searching his skeletal remains were discovered in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on October 20. Besides, on November 23, it was announced that Laundrie died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. We then get to know that a notebook was found amongst his belongings. The FBI announced that Laundrie admitted to killing Petito in that notebook.
Gaby Petito’s mother’s take on the recent events with Brian Laundrie

The mother of Gabby Petito has reacted to the recent release of Brian Laundrie’s notebook. In addition, there was his handwritten confession. It said he thought death was “what she wanted.” What a sick way to justify strangulation.
Furthermore, we see that in a Twitter post very recently, Nichole Schmidt called her daughter’s murderer a “narcissist.”
Her tweet has emphasized the word “Fed up,”. We know how lengthy court cases last. The family hardly gets time to mourn their loved ones. Furthermore, her post was accompanied by a graphic that reads “Narcissists rewrite history to escape accountability.” In fact, the tweet reads of her wrath towards the family of the murderers. “The truth will be revealed” and “Justice for Gabby” were the hashtags she used.
According to several sources, Steven Bertolino is the attorney of Laundrie’s parents. Besides, he has posted images of pages from the 23-year-old killer’s notebook. Brian Laundrie had written about some things there which can be called regrets.
Brian Laundrie: Contents of the note found
“I ended her life,” he wrote in the notebook, which the police found on October 2021, after his death by suicide. However,”I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted, but I see now all the mistakes I made.” “I panicked. I was in shock. But from the moment I decided to take away her pain, I knew I couldn’t go on without her.”
Furthermore, Brian Laundrie referred to Petito’s death as an “unexpected tragedy.”
As per the entries in the notebook, Petito was injured when the couple were crossing a stream in the dark. After that, she was suffering heavily with her injuries. Laundrie also wrote that Petito had a “small bump on her forehead that eventually got larger”. As well as other injuries and that she was “begging for an end to her pain.” According to him he only had to kill her to liberate her from the pain. However, we do not know whether these claims were true or not.
How is the Petito family dealing with the loss?
A few days earlier a lawyer for the Petito family, Patrick Reilly, told the ‘People’ that Laundrie’s claims were false. In fact, he went so far as to call the “tragic accident” “nonsense.” According to him, they planned this story so that people sympathize with them.
“He is writing a letter as though he wants people to feel sorry for him,” Reilly said.
Furthermore, we see that the Petito family had filed a case against the Laundrie family. They have alleged that Christopher and Roberta Laundrie knew the whereabouts of Petito’s body. This happened when the authorities were desperately searching for the body for days for investigation.
Schmidt and Joseph Petito, have claimed compensation of more than $30,000 in damages caused in their lives. Besides, it was for the mental torture that the Laundrie family has given them.
Further detail on the case

The recent evidence has also revealed several things. Firstly, Christopher and Roberta helped Brian Laundrie hide Petito’s murder and were making plans for him to flee the country.
Secondly, the suit says that instead of helping Joseph and Nichole to find their daughter, his parents went on vacation with Brian. Furthermore, they ignored the non stop help that they wanted from them. Thirdly, Roberta blocked Nichole’s phone number and Facebook profile back then to avoid contact. Because Nichole sought answers about what happened to Petito. The suit filed had talked about all the mentioned issues, and how the entire notebook incident was to get sympathy points.
“Christopher Laundrie and Roberta Laundrie exhibited extreme and outrageous conduct which constitutes behaviour, under the circumstances, which goes beyond all possible bounds of decency and is regarded as shocking, atrocious, and utterly intolerable in a civilized community.”
Ending note
What happened with Gabby Petito was indeed tragic. And since the perpetrator Brian Laundrie isn’t alive, the actual truth remains in a blur. We hope that the truth comes out fast and the victim’s family get their due justice.
