The story revolves around how Egil “Bud” Krogh suddenly was handed over to the Special Investigation Unit and how it became ‘The Plumbers’. In 1971, Krogh was called to a closed-door meeting by John Ehrlichman, his mentor and key confidant of President Richard Nixon. He thought it was to talk about the recent drug control case that was launched on his most recent trip to South Vietnam.
The Unit later became notorious as ‘The Plumbers’. It was supposed to search for the leaks of important government documents and the Pentagon Papers in particular, to the press.

Who Played E. Howard Hunt?
Woody Harrelson played the character of E. Howard Hunt was a former CIA officer. Hunt was hired by the Nixon government to determine the various leaks of confidential information to the media.
The main job of Hunt was to break into the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist and search for the scandal of Ted Kennedy. It was Ellsberg who was responsible for the release of the classified Pentagon Papers to the press. Hunt proved to be unsuccessful in both cases.
Later in the series, we see how Harrelson’s character along with Gordon Liddy masterminded a series of burglaries that eventually led back to Nixon himself.
This incident at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at Watergate and the rigorous attempt to cover up and buy silence on the issue became one of the determining factors for the resignation of Nixon.
Woody Harrelson, the Emmy winner and three-time Oscar nominee, has been widely acclaimed for his role of E. Hunt. The actor has also delivered other notable roles in the first season of True Detective, in the Zombieland movies, Hunger Games and so on.

The White House lawyer G. Gordon Liddy’s role was pulled up by Justin Theroux. He was the other key character who worked alongside E. Hunt in orchestrating the events that formulated the Watergate scandal.
Liddy had connections in the Treasury Department, the FBI and other prominent positions in the Nixon administration. The character earned acclaim for his crazy ideas while at CRP, which included misleading the Democratic officials onto a Miami houseboat, secretly clicking them with the prostitutes and so on.
Liddy was convicted in the case of burglary, wiretapping and conspiracy for which he has spent 4 years in prison. The man after his release became an author, college lecturer, actor and radio host.

Who Played John Dean?
John Dean who played a major role in covering up the Watergate conspiracy was played by Domhnall Gleeson. Dean’s testimonies were the ones that led E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy to their legal fates. He did this to receive a milder sentence by the court.
He deceived his fellow conspirators at the end. Domhnall Gleeson has gained considerable fame for his portrayal of Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise. He has a notable role as General Hux in the Star Movies and has also appeared as Caleb in the sci-fi movie Ex Machina.
Who was Frank Sturgis in the Show?
Kim Coates was Frank Sturgis in the show. Sturgis was among the five active participators in the breaking-in at the Watergate complex. He was an ex-military officer who was arrested for being part of the conspiracy and served 14 months in prison.
Coates was best known for his appearance in the 92-episode run as Tig in Sons of Anarchy. He has even appeared as Declan in Bad Blood and Ronnie in the sports comedy Goon.
