Beloved “Funkdafied” rapper Da Brat and beauty entrepreneur Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart are expecting their first baby together.
At 48, rapper and reality star Da Brat are pregnant, expecting her first child with wife Judy Harris-Dupart, who donated her eggs for their IVF.
Da Brat revealed her pregnancy with a gangster-themed maternity shoot photographed by People. The Da Brat told People that the idea of growing their family started as a joke. But as soon as Harris-Dupart decided to expand her brand with the addition of a Da Brat collaboration, the couple soon took the concept a little more seriously.
Da Brat and Jesseca Got Married in February 2022
Da Brat got married to Judy, who is the CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, on February 2 last year. At the time, the executive was in the process of launching a new line by inspiring Da Brat’s iconic braids and hairstyles. Judy is already a mother to three children from a previous relationship.
Da Brat says that she changed her thoughts on having kids when she met her wife. “I started looking at life so differently. I was like, I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.” She also said that she was not very keen on carrying the child.
“I was like, nothing’s gonna come out of me!,” Da Brat expressed, and Judy added, “We had a little tug-o-war in the beginning…but I felt like she should have the experience. She is so nurturing.”

Talking about her pregnancy journey in a new interview, Da Brat said, “It’s been quite a journey. There’s a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40.” She further revealed that they thought of embracing parenthood as a joke at first but went with the idea later on.
“It started as a joke; we were like, ‘We’re extending our family!’ But then we got a huge response. It was like, ‘Oh my God do we want to have kids, and if we do, girl, we better hurry up!’” she added.
Da Brat further revealed, “I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career and a full life. I felt like because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”
The Couple Suffered a Miscarriage Earlier
But Da Brat tells People the couple, who wed Feb. 22, 2022, experienced a miscarriage shortly after.
“I had never been so excited about something that I didn’t even know I wanted,” Da Brat tells the outlet. “I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me.”
This time, the Grammy-nominated rapper, who is 18 weeks along, is the couple’s carrier after Harris-Dupart, the CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, suffered “major health complications following her egg retrieval procedure.”
“It’s just a blessing. I’m excited!” she tells “People”. “I don’t have any cravings or nausea, but I’m always sleepy. It’s crazy!”
The rapper came out as gay in 2020, when she made her relationship with Harris-Dupart Instagram official.
