Dolly Parton has made this Thanksgiving day special for her fans. Fresh from the launch of her latest album, “Rockstar,” the country superstar graced the stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where she headlined The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show during the Thanksgiving Day game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders.
In her dynamic performance, the legendary singer donned a modified version of the Cowboys’ cheerleader uniform, showcasing a white vest adorned with blue stars, a revealing blue crop top, and crisp white shorts. Despite the illusion of a bare midriff, her stomach was discreetly covered by a fully bedazzled mesh. A crystal star adorned Parton’s belly button, while additional crystals embellished the tights she sported for the performance.
Parton launched the halftime show with her beloved track “Jolene” and seamlessly transitioned into another classic, “9 to 5.” The iconic singer also treated the audience to her rendition of Queen’s “We Are the Champions.” Last month, it was revealed in a press statement that Parton would be the halftime performer for this year’s Thanksgiving Day game, a collaboration with The Salvation Army that she described as “an honour”.
The singer-songwriter introduced her newest album, “Rockstar,” on November 17. The expansive 30-track collection encompasses a mix of covers and original compositions, showcasing collaborations with esteemed artists such as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Pink, Brandi Carlile, Melissa Etheridge, Sting, and others.
Parton is no stranger to grand stages, including those of NFL halftimes. However, she revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she had declined offers to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.
