When Drew Barrymore posed nude for Playboy, she wasn’t considering her future children, and certainly, she had no idea that her NSFW pictures would endure indefinitely on the internet. She has been bold enough to speak out about her experience and seems confident about her work.
What Did She Say About Posing Nude?
In a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the talk show host and actress Drew Barrymore engaged Natalie Portman in a game called “Pop Quiz.” The game involved popping balloons that contained various questions, as Decider reported. When asked about one thing she would never do for a role, Natalie Portman shared that she wouldn’t show her boobs, expressing concern about her kids seeing pictures online. Drew Barrymore responded, emphasizing it wasn’t about prudishness.
Reflecting on her experience of posing nude for Playboy at 19, Barrymore admitted that she hadn’t anticipated the presence of an online platform when she did it. She said,
‘Good luck finding that magazine under some weird guy’s bed in some random house! Oh no, it’s gonna be — OK!’
This Is Not Her First Statement
The star of “50 First Dates” had previously discussed her Playboy cover in a February interview with Pamela Anderson. She explained, “I was taking my power back,” revealing that her decision to pose for the magazine was about embracing her freedom, exploring herself, and undergoing personal growth as she navigated her wild and free-spirited youth. However, at that time, she wasn’t aware that she would eventually have children who could easily discover those photos online.
Reflecting on that period, Barrymore shared that when she was doing Playboy, enjoying it, and having a great time without any regrets, she didn’t anticipate having kids later. Similarly, Anderson acknowledged that she didn’t involve herself in certain activities in her life, foreseeing how they might potentially cause embarrassment or humiliation to her children in the future.
