Elon Musk’s 14 Children: Here’s What to Know About Tesla CEO's Big, Bold Family!

Elon Musk appears to be quite a quantitative individual. He desires many of the things he wants: businesses, wealth, and children who share his genetic traits.

In most people’s view, having 14 publicly acknowledged children is quite a considerable amount. The “as far as we know” disclaimers aren’t just for laughs; the tally of Musk’s kids keeps rising. If this trend of one baby each month continues, things are bound to get unusual. Or… even more unusual.

Musk recently quipped on X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform he owns, that he would need a larger spaceship to transport all of his kids. (He also has a child named X, which should not be mistaken for SpaceX, another one of his companies. It seems Musk has the X factor, perhaps.) For the rest of us, keeping track of the billionaire’s known offspring is quite a challenge.

Here’s everything you need to know about Elon Musk’s 14 children: Nevada, Vivian, Griffin, Kai, Saxon, Damian, X Æ A-12, Exa, Strider, Azure, Techno, Arcadia, Seldon Lycurgus and Romulus.

Nevada Alexander

Born: May 18, 2002

Mother: Justine Wilson

Nevada Alexander Musk was the first child of Elon Musk and his first wife, Justine Wilson. He was born on May 18, 2002. Tragically, Nevada passed away at 10 weeks old on May 28, 2002, due to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). His loss greatly affected his parents, causing them to pursue in vitro fertilization (IVF) for future pregnancies.

Vivian Jenna Wilson and Griffin

Born: April 15, 2004
Mother: Justine Wilson

Following the death of Nevada, Justine Wilson described in her essay how it led her into “a years-long inward spiral of depression and distraction,” yet she initiated IVF treatments just two months after losing her first child. In April 2004, she welcomed the birth of twins. One of these twins came out as transgender in April 2022, requesting a legal name and gender change to Vivian Jenna Wilson, adopting her mother’s maiden name, which was approved in June 2022. In official documents, Vivian indicated her motivations for the name and gender changes on her new birth certificate were “Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”

In July 2024, Musk posted on X about his child, stating she was “born gay and slightly autistic, two traits that contribute to gender dysphoria.” Musk also mentioned that Vivian had chosen out jackets for him, referring to them as “fabulous!” when she was four years old.

In a 2022 discussion with the Financial Times after Vivian submitted her petition, Musk attributed her stance to her education, criticizing it as “full-on communism.” “It [the relationship] may change, but I have very good relationships with all the others [children],” he expressed. “Can’t win them all.”

Vivian’s twin, Griffin, tends to remain out of the public eye, but Musk noted that he accompanied his father to an event in Miami in May 2024.

Kai, Saxon, and Damian

Born: January 2006

Mother: Justine Wilson

Wilson welcomed triplet boys named Kai, Saxon, and Damian in 2006, following the birth of twins two years prior.

Walter Isaacson’s 2023 biography on the tech entrepreneur, titled Elon Musk, highlights Damian, who he noted adopted a vegetarian diet at the age of 8 to “decrease my carbon footprint.”

Isaacson also shared that Damian is a prodigy in classical music and performs exceptionally well in math and physics. Musk’s mother, Maye, once remarked to her son, “I think Damian is brighter than you.”

X Æ A-12

Born: May 4, 2020

Mother: Grimes (Claire Boucher)

In May 2020, musician Grimes and Musk welcomed their son, X Æ A-12, whose name was later modified to X Æ A-Xii. He was conceived through IVF. Grimes mentioned in Instagram comments that their eldest son’s name was pronounced “just X, like the letter X, then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I.” Musk had a different interpretation but agreed that X, which is how the child is generally referred to, is pronounced “like the letter.” However, he stated on The Joe Rogan Experience that “the ‘Æ’ is pronounced like ‘ash.’”

Musk, who proposed this addition, described it as “the Archangel-12, the precursor to the SR-71, the coolest plane ever.”

Recently, young X was spotted interrupting Musk in the Oval Office during a press conference, urging President Donald Trump to stop speaking. According to sources who reported that Musk has been sleeping in his office across the street from the White House, X is “around quite a bit.”

Strider and Azure

Born: November 2021

Mother: Shivon Zilis

Musk discreetly welcomed twins, a son named Strider and a daughter named Azure, with Shivon Zilis in November 2021, according to court documents released by Insider.

In November 2021, billionaire Elon Musk and Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis had twins, named Strider and Azure, respectively, a son and a daughter. The twins were conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and were initially unknown, but social media posts from Zilis and Musk’s biographer eventually verified their identities.

Exa Dark Sideræl Musk

Born: December 2021

Mother: Grimes (Claire Boucher)

Grimes disclosed in a Vanity Fair interview a year later that she gave birth to a baby girl through surrogacy in December 2021, just three months after the couple’s public separation. The child, named Exa Dark Sideræl, has a name that carries dual significance.

Exa refers to the ability to execute one quintillion floating-point operations per second is known as exaFLOPS in supercomputing. Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe.”

Grimes claims that the pronunciation of “the true time of the universe” is “sigh-deer-ee-el,” which is a more “elven” form of “sidereal.” It also alludes to J.R.R. Tolkien’s character Galadriel from The Lord of the Rings.

In March 2023, Grimes posted a rare image of her daughter on Twitter and mentioned that the young girl had adopted a different name.

“Normally we [don’t] post her for her privacy, but she’s fairly unrecognizable here since she’s channeling Goku,” she wrote in the comments, referencing a character from Dragon Ball. The photo depicted Musk’s youngest in a red onesie with spiky blonde hair.

Techno Mechanicus

Born: June 2022

Mother: Grimes (Claire Boucher)

In June 2022, Grimes and Musk discreetly welcomed their third child, known as Techno Mechanicus or Tau. The release of Walter Isaacson’s biography of Elon Musk in September 2023 helped raise awareness about the child’s birth.

The couple quietly celebrated the birth of their second son, Techno Mechanicus, also referred to as “Tau,” in June 2022.

After the book was published, Grimes posted on X that she intended to keep more information about her child private.

Arcadia

Born: March 28, 2024

Mother: Shivon Zilis

In June 2024, Musk announced that he had a third child with Zilis. At that time, specifics like the baby’s name, gender, and birth date were not disclosed. Musk told Page Six that the baby wasn’t a secret; he simply didn’t make an official announcement about the birth.

Romulus

Born: September-ish 2024

Mother: Ashley St. Clair

On February 14, 2025, St. Clair revealed that she was the mother of a five-month-old infant and identified Musk as the father. She claimed that he had pressured her to keep both her pregnancy and the baby’s existence a secret, and at his request, she did not list Musk’s name on the infant’s birth certificate. She asserted that she went public after being pursued by tabloid reporters.

According to her, Musk had not contacted her since then. In April 2025, genetic testing confirmed Musk as the child’s biological father, and the Wall Street Journal disclosed the baby’s first name: Romulus.

Seldon Lycurgus

Born: March 1, 2025

Mother: Shivon Zilis

Approximately two hours following her tweet revealing details about her daughter Arcadia, Zilis presented another first birthday gift for her child and the eager public: a baby brother named Seldon Lycurgus. Unlike his purported child with St. Clair, Musk seems to acknowledge this one, replying to Zilis’ announcement with a solitary heart emoji in a tweet just nine minutes later.

“Discussed with Elon and, in light of Arcadia’s beautiful birthday, we felt it was better to also just share directly about our wonderful and incredible son Seldon Lycurgus,” Zilis tweeted on February 28, 2025. “Built like a juggernaut, with a solid heart of gold. Love him so much.”

Lycurgus was a lawgiver in Sparta, continuing Musk’s trend of incorporating Greek mythology into his narrative.
