Many celebrities already retired from Twitter after deactivating their accounts after Elon Musk took over the reins of Twitter. The celebrities are of the opinion that the present and future of this social media site are in danger. The world’s richest man has come up with many controversial changes. One such policy of “Twitter Blue” has resulted in many fake accounts. Indeed, these fake accounts have just added on to the already existing chaos. It is an irony that the proposal creates more inauthenticity. In fact, it poses a threat to the trustworthiness of Twitter.
Elon Musk decision is ironical

We saw the initiation of the Twitter verification system in June 2009. This system is a means to tell apart genuine notable account holders (such as celebrities and organisations) from impostors or parodies. However, Elon Musk’s recent proposal to initiate a paid verification through “Twitter Blue” has resulted in vast confusion and disorder. This new measure lays out that anyone can impersonate someone else for $8 a month. In fact, the impersonators are seeing their content boosted algorithmically without any vetting.
The “Twitter Blue” tick was originally conceived to generate faster revenue and rule out fake accounts. However, the present scenario is rather the contrary. The “Twitter Blue” tick has made the Twitterverse an unsafe place to be in. It has posed more harm to the Twitterverse than it has done any good. In the present times, anyone can bag in a blue tick badge by coughing up just $8. Therefore, the consequence is an abnormal spike on the number of fake accounts. Indeed, the reliability of this site is in danger.
To make things even worse, Elon Musk openly declared that verified accounts who pay US$8 will gain more visibility on the platform. On the other hand, the non-verified accounts will be subdued algorithmically.
A most recent instance of this chaos is a fake Twitter account impersonating LeBron James. It declared that the basketball star was requesting a trade away from the Lakers. Other victims of this disarray include athletes like Connor McDavid and Aroldis Chapman. In fact, there is another fake Nintendo of America account. Of course this account is with a blue tick. This fake account pictures the image of Mario showing his middle finger.
The reaction of the public

Please take note of the fact that the payment verification is not in fact verification. Indeed, it has only let people create verified fake accounts for just $8. In fact, we do not know how many more fake accounts will pop up in the days to come. However, people are certainly genuinely conscious and putting forward understandable concerns.
Alejandra Caraballo has reflected on the fact that the perpetrators of violence and bomb threats against children’s hospitals are now verified under Twitter Blue. Indeed, the situation is menacing. The situation is a menacing farce, it appears. For example, someone just impersonated Kim Taegyumg just by creating a fake account.
