Sameer Wankhede is an Indian officer of the Indian Revenue Service from the 2008 batch. Until 2021, he worked as the Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Before joining NCB, he worked with the National Investigation Agency and the Air Intelligence Unit.

Sameer Wankhede alleges harassment by an NCB officer
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has said it will probe a complaint received by the Indian Revenue Service (IS). Officer Sameer Wankhede alleged harassment by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Deputy Director General (DDG) Gyaneshwar Singh. He headed a vigilance probe that found irregularities in the 2021 drugs-on-cruise case.
The NCB had instituted the vigilance probe after several lapses police found in the inquiry into the alleged drug seizure from a cruise ship in Mumbai last October. Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, police arrested him after a raid on the ship. Also, he was later given a ‘clean chit’ in the case.
Sameer Wankhede threatened on Twitter, files police complaint
Indian Revenue Service officer Sameer Wankhede on Friday lodged a police complaint after receiving threats from an unidentified Twitter user, an official said. However, Wankhede, former Mumbai zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), visited the suburban Goregaon Police Station in the morning, he said.
Police registered a non-cognisable offence under section 507 (criminal intimidation and by anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code, the official said. The cyber cell of Mumbai Police is also conducting a probe into the matter.
Therefore, Wankhede received the threat on Thursday from a Twitter handle a day after a First Information Report (FIR). That was registered against jailed NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik. It was for allegedly defaming Wankhede over his caste certificate.
Sameer Wankhede was attacked by Drug Peddlers
On November 22, 2020, in Mumbai, a MOB of drug Peddlers attacked Wankhede and his officers during his anti-drug raid.
“The Mumbai police, especially the Goregaon police, helped our group. However, the five-man group went there to lead a strike and blamed these assembled groups for about 60 to 70 people. So that they could shut down the businessman.” Even then we came to know how to hold it and to rebuild a business amount of LSD from him ”.
Recently the department referred him to Chennai after the latest updates in the drug case.
