Christopher Preciado, 19, has been charged with capital murder. His father, 53-year-old Ramon Preciado, was charged with abuse of a corpse in the case. The father and son were arrested Wednesday. The case was in connection with the death of the Pregnant Texas Teen. Savanah Soto and her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra, were murdered late last month, according to San Antonio police.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office told the sources that a pregnant teenager was found dead in Texas. She was the victim of a homicide, while her boyfriend, discovered next to her, was shot in the head. Savanah Soto also died from a gunshot wound to the head. The 18-year-old went missing a day before she was due to give birth. Her family grew concerned when they could not contact her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra.
The father and son are the sole suspects police sought in the case. Police said the couple was killed on Dec. 21 just before midnight. Christopher is facing a capital murder charge, and Ramon an abuse of a corpse charge. The police said that more charges are expected for both men. Savanah’s recovered cell phone was a key piece of evidence in making the arrests. The information on the phone led detectives to the suspect vehicle. It was seen in a surveillance video police had shared on December 28.
Officers of the police department conducted surveillance. This was when they arrived, where they believed the suspect vehicle was located. Police knocked on the door, and Ramon Preciado answered. He said he knew why the police were there. The father and son, according to SAPD, were then taken into custody. They were questioned downtown at police headquarters.
SAPD said a judge signed a warrant for their arrest based on the information provided during questioning. Christopher Preciado is the alleged sole killer in the case. SAPD said his father helped hide the bodies. The police suspected that the deaths were in connection with a botched drug deal. Soto and Guerra were killed on December 21 before midnight.
San Antonio Police Department Chief Bill McManus said last week about the video. He pointed out that the released video was recorded “very close to” where the bodies were found. It was shot a few days before they were discovered. There is no connection to where the bodies were found on December 26. Police said Soto and Guerra were dumped there days after they were killed at a different location.
