Gypsy Rose Blanchard is sharing new details about her childhood after spending eight years in prison for the 2015 murder of her abusive mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. The Lifetime docuseries “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard” reveals her side of the story. In the first episode, she shocks viewers by accusing her maternal grandfather, Claude Pitre, of molesting her during her childhood.
The series recounts the time Gypsy briefly lived with Pitre when her mom, Dee Dee, was in the hospital recovering from a 2000 car accident. Initially, everything seemed fine, with Pitre mentioning that they played and went to church together.
She also mentioned that she has only scratched the surface. The truth is far uglier and disturbing. At first, Rose trusted her grandpa a lot, and he was also sweet. But then, slowly, her life began to change. She realised her grandfather had some extremely malicious intent towards her. The victim stressed that her grandfather would take her to the workshop where he did his woodwork. Once there, he would perform horrific sexual acts on her. Rose experienced intense trauma, but she could not ask for help from anyone.
Gypsy Rose: Victim of a Disorder
Over nine years, Rose went to the hospital more than 100 times. She had a lot of unnecessary surgeries, and one of them even involved getting her salivary glands removed. She says she did not respond well to the use of anaesthesia. The surgeries, including gland operations, were tough on Gypsy Rose Blanchard because she didn’t respond well to the anaesthesia.
The recovery process was hard for her. Even now, after being released from prison. She still deals with side effects, like having to clear her throat all the time. So, if you hear her doing that, she’s had to cope with it since then. And it can be annoying to people.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is sharing more about her life with Dee Dee, revealing the false illnesses her mother claimed she had due to Munchausen by proxy. Gipsy disclosed everything to her mother and was surprised to learn that her mother had also been abused by the same person when she was a child. Coming to grips with the shared experience was challenging for both of them, making Gypsy wonder about other forms of abuse her mother might have suffered that she didn’t know about. It is indeed horrifying.
