CBD is a cannabinoid, a kind of chemical occurring naturally in cannabis plants. CBD does not provide you with the “high” sensation that is associated with cannabis.
To treat their symptoms, some people with chronic pain use topical CBD oil. When you use CBD oil, it can help you to:
- Relieve inflammation
- Relieve fatigue
- CBD Oil Relieve pressure
- Relieve pain
Many studies have shown that pain relief is experienced by taking CBD oil. While this oil does not claim to kill pain, it can provide relief. On occasion, relief from pain can make a world of difference.
The use of CBD oil could be a viable option for anyone who suffers from chronic pain. It may also be ideal for those who have become dependent on opioids. opioids can be addictive and have many side effects. More study is required, however, to confirm that CBD oil does relieve pain.
There have been no medical or scientific studies to prove that CBD oil kills pain. This is primarily because of the cost of the studies. However, this is not to say that it does not work.
CBD and Chronic Pain
According to some studies, CBD oil interacts with endocannabinoid receptors in the brain. It also interacts with the immune system, which is a key component of the endocannabinoid system. Receptors are small proteins that are found on the surface of the cells in the endocannabinoid system. These receptors absorb chemical signals from various stimuli and encourage the cells to respond.
It has been shown that this reaction has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. These actions are known to help relieve pain. This, ultimately, suggests that CBD oil and many other CBD-based products can potentially help people who suffer from chronic pain, such as chronic back pain.
Please note, different CBD products will contain differing amounts of CBD oil. For example, one brand of oil might contain less than another brand. This is perfectly normal and acceptable, it just allows you the chance to find a dosage that is right for you.
A 2018 study looked at how effective CBD is at treating chronic pain. The study concentrated on research that took place between 1975 and 2019. The study looked at different aspects of pain.
These aspects included:
- Fibromyalgia neuropathic pain
- Lung pain
Researchers found that CBD oil was beneficial when it was used for general pain relief. They also found that it had no harmful side effects. This is good news as it means CBD oil has a real potential to help a lot of people
CBD and Arthritis
According to a 2016 report, when rats with arthritis were given CBD, inflammation was reduced. The report also stated that the rats had less inflammation. In fact, the report also showed that CBD had no side-effects. This just goes to show how effective this natural drug is.
CBD and Migraines
A range of studies surrounding CBD and migraines showed that migraine sufferers were more likely to have less chronic and acute pain. This two-phase study involved one set of people being given CBD and little to no THC (The active ingredient in cannabinoids that give you a “high”). Other people were given THC and CBD in an oral dose.
When the participants were given doses of less than 100 mg, there was very little effect on their pain. When the dose was increased to 200 mg, the pain was reduced by approximately 55%.
Amitriptyline is an antidepressant that is commonly used to treat pain. One study found that CBD oil can be much more effective at killing pain than 25 mg of amitriptyline. In fact, the study found that incidences of migraines were reduced by as much as 40%.
Patients who suffered from cluster headaches found that they had relief if they used a mixture of CBD and THC. However, this was only the case in those who experienced migraines when they were young.
There still aren’t what experts call “empirical evidence” to prove that CBD oil provides pain relief. However, there is a lot of promise surrounding this natural drug.
Pain Relief
CBD oil may also provide pain relief to those who are in chronic pain, without them having to worry about addiction or intoxication. As you can see, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that CBD oil kills pain. While the medical world has no proof of its benefits just yet, many people all over the world know how effective it is.
If you are considering using CBD oil, please speak to your doctor. While your doctor might not be able to advise you about dosage, they could warn you about any contra-indications.
If you do not wish to speak to your doctor, please start on a low dose. Increase your dosage steadily until you achieve some pain relief.
