Seeds Germination Procedure
1. Soaking the Seeds
For the seeds germination process, you need to soak the seeds in tap water for 12 hours in a vessel. You will notice viable seeds at the bottom of the bowl whereas non-viable seeds will float on the top. You can even get the seeds from international seed banks, as they are shipping worldwide such as
- Mandala seeds
- Attitude seeds
- Nirvana seeds
- Choice cannabis seeds
After 12 hours of soaking the seeds, take out the viable seeds and place them on a towel. Take a thick paper towel and place it under running water. Check until it is wet enough and use a ceramic dish or plate to place the towel. The paper towel needs to cover the plate or dish over which you can place the seeds.
2. Placing the Seeds ½ inch Apart on the Towel
Now, you need to place the seeds on the wet paper towel after separating them at a distance of ½ inch between them. If you didn’t find enough space for the seeds, you can use another plate covered with a wet paper towel and place the other seeds. Take one more paper towel and place them over the seeds after wetting it.
3. Storing the Seeds at a Certain Temperature
Ensure that you are storing the cannabis seeds at a warm temperature so that they will germinate properly. So, you can store them at the top of the refrigerator but avoid getting in contact with direct sunlight. To make the seeds warm for germination, you can use a heat lamp near the seeds.
Also, you shouldn’t warm the seeds too much, as it may dry the paper towels. You can also spray the paper towel using a bottle of water to maintain its moisture. When the seeds become dry, they will even die and not germinate at all.
4. Check for the Seeds Germination
Viable cannabis seeds will start to germinate within 48 hours. You can notice the tap roots begin to grow within a few days around ¼ to ½ inch long. One should avoid touching or pulling the seeds after the growth of roots on the seeds. Now, they are ready to germinate, and thus, you should get ready for planting the seeds.
Planting the Seeds Procedure
1. Make Ready Pot with Potting Soil
To plant the seeds, get any plastic or mud pots and fill them with potting soil that is airy and loose. You should check for moisture in the soil by touching it and filling almost ¾ level of the pot with soil. Another alternative to soil is starter cubes.
In the case of starter cubes, you will find a hole where you need to place cannabis seeds. But for the soil in a mud pot, you need to make a hole of ¼ inch using a pen or pencil. Never reach deeper, as it will reach the surface of the soil. If seeds reach deeper, it will take much time to sprout.
2. Use Tweezer to Drop Seeds and Cover Them with Soil
Use a tweezer to drop the germinated seeds into the hole in the soil. Ensure that the tap root should face the hole while you are placing the seeds. Sometimes, germinated seeds may stick to the paper towel.
In such a situation, you need to wet it for taking the seeds easier. Now, cover the seeds using soil around ¼ inch, so that they will grow easily. In the case of starter cubes, you need to pinch the top of the closed cubes.
Caring for the Seeds in the Right Way
1. Placing the Seeds Away From Direct Sunlight in a Moist Area
Never place the potted seeds near the windows or heater which will prevent the growth of the plant. Since the air is too dry and hot, it will stop the growth of the plant. So, the two best indoor spots are the basement and closet for placing the potted seeds.
Ensure that you maintain a temperature of around 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the right temperature for the growth of the plant.
2. Wetting the Soil Once or Twice a Day
Use a spray bottle to maintain the seeds’ moisture and wet the soil daily. Touch and see the moisture level of the soil, but not too much wet. You need to schedule certain times in a day for watering and maintain it regularly to have enough moisture. You can spray the plants during the morning and night to maintain the right moisture in the potting soil.
3. Make Use of White Grow Lights
If you are not aware of how to grow weed, you can use white grow lights of around temperature 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintain a distance of 2-inch away from the pots while lighting the plant. Ensure that you are using a 5 watts light source for a pot. You can easily get the white grow lights from local hardware shops or online stores.
4. Avoid Handling or Touching the Seeds Directly
When you touch or handle the seeds by direct touching, it will damage them and stop their growth. So, it is important to maintain the right growth care and conditions for the growth of the cannabis plant or weeds.
