Jimmy Iovine, the co-founder of Interscope Records, is the target of a lawsuit alleging sexual assault and misconduct. A woman named Jane Doe alleged that she was “sexually abused, forcibly touched, and subjected to sexual harassment and retaliation” in August 2007 by Iovine. The summons was filed at the State of New York Supreme Court on 22nd November 2023. The accusations include assault and battery in addition to breaking the Human Rights Law and the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act in New York City.
A spokesperson for Iovine expressed shock at the summons, stating, “This inquiry is the first we’ve heard of this matter.” They emphasized that no previous claims had been made against Iovine, and they were unaware of any complaint before this.
While only the summons has been filed, the actual lawsuit is anticipated. Doe’s attorney provided no additional comment, and inquiries for Iovine’s attorney’s response are pending.
Jimmy Iovine, known for co-founding Beats Electronics with Dr. Dre, has been a prominent figure in the music industry. The co-founders were subjects of the 2017 documentary series “The Defiant Ones.” Iovine was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, with a speech by Bruce Springsteen. The unfolding lawsuit adds a legal challenge to Iovine’s longstanding career in the music business.
