Is BG Released From Prison?
B.G. isn’t out of jail just yet, but it seems like he’s only days away from being released, and it’s happening a bit earlier than expected. He had a 14-year sentence that he got more than a decade ago.
Sources close to the rapper say his last projected release date was set for 7th April 2024, but now he’s getting out about seven months earlier than that. There were some rumours before about him getting out early, but this time it looks like it’s for real.
Back in 2012, he got sentenced to those 14 years for charges related to having illegal guns and tampering with witnesses, all from an arrest back in 2009. Even though there were attempts before to get him out early, it seems like the day he gets his freedom is getting closer.
Who is BG?
Christopher Noel Dorsey, better known as B.G. or Baby Gangsta, is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He began his music journey when he signed with Cash Money Records at the incredibly young age of 12 in 1993.
Dorsey played a vital role in the Hot Boys, a rap group formed in 1997, alongside fellow artists Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Turk. In 2001, he went independent, founding Chopper City Records after parting ways with Cash Money.
Why was BG Arrested?
B.G., whose real name is Christopher Noel Dorsey, found himself in jail primarily because of firearm-related charges. It all started on 3rd November 2009, during a routine traffic stop in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The police discovered three guns in his vehicle, and two of them were reported as stolen. This led to charges of illegal weapon possession. On top of that, Dorsey and two passengers in the car were accused of trying to obstruct justice when one of them signed a “false affidavit” to take all the blame for the guns.
After a legal process that involved the passengers pleading guilty and a trial, Dorsey eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of having a firearm and one count of conspiring to obstruct justice.
As a result, he got a 14-year sentence in federal prison and an additional three years of federal supervision once he was released, which happened on 18 July 2012.
