Janelle James refuses to reveal her age. Let’s get into the depth of this!
The “Abbott Elementary” actress added that she prefers to keep most aspects of her private life secret. And that she will never reveal her age in public. Because as a mother already, it might restrict her job prospects due to how society views women.
From The Mouth of Janelle James
I’m an adult, she said to Variety. My son is twenty-years-old. I don’t feel embarrassed at all about my age. But for women, it provides people a glimpse into who you are in their minds—and everyone understands this even though they pretend otherwise.
Not my cup of tea. As we age, people start to think of mothers the same way they think of women. People have preconceived notions of what it is for each age group. That shouldn’t stop me from doing anything because I can do anything.
Janelle continued by recalling her first experience with professional success. Then, she “got a laugh” from an audience while she was a stand-up comedian. However, she was unable to relocate permanently to New York. So, she remained above a store for a few nights a week.
“I recall the first laugh I received,” she remarked. Oh, this is it, I thought in my brain. I’m doing this right now,” I am a large fish in a little pond, though.
A rat and an air mattress were present. Before the store opened, I would get up and leave. I would simply stroll around with my belongings all day until I performed shows, at which point I would return to bed.
The Role of Ava Coleman
Janelle’s situation improved when she contacted ‘Abbott Elementary’ creator Quinta Brunson. And they further clarified that landing the role of Ava Coleman was “ideal”. It’s because she didn’t need to be “sexy.”
She added that the only role for which she would be ready to diet would be a part in a Marvel movie. However, she decided to shed 15 pounds between filming seasons one and two.
The Final Words of Janelle James
“F***, I have to diet for this?” she said if she saw it, she continued. I’m against doing it. I find that offensive. And I don’t intend to continue doing it. I’ll only cut calories for a Marvel film. I’ll forgo bacon and waffles to be Storm.
Now I’m witnessing everyone saying, “Oh, Janelle is hot!” So now I have to keep doing it! I do. I felt like I shouldn’t have shed this much weight. Now, that’s what they anticipate from me. I just want to have fun and act! Being heated is work; it’s a different job.
