Director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Western crime thriller, Killers of the Flower Moon. He confirmed to have an epic runtime. Though it won’t be quite as record-breakingly epic as I first thought. Coming courtesy of a report by Deadline, Killers of the Flower Moon will run for 3 hours and 26 minutes. So, rather than the 3 hours and 54 minutes that was suggested recently.
Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Clocks in at Three Hours and 26 Minutes
Deadline has revealed that Killers of the Flower Moon clocks in at 206 minutes. That’s still a sizable 3 hours and 26 minutes, but less than previously reported.
There have of course been multiple versions of Once Upon a Time in America, with differing runtimes. But the most popular and acclaimed version clocks in at 3 hours and 49 minutes. Which tracks with what Fremaux said. But there have been cuts to Killers of the Flower Moon since then.
Scorsese’s longest film thus far is The Irishman, which has a runtime of 3 hours and 29 minutes. Meaning Killers of the Flower Moon now comes in at just under that.
Killers of the Flower Moon is a different recommendation. Apple is partnering with Paramount Too to give Scorsese’s high-profile film. A traditional run in cinemas across the globe before making available at a yet-to-be-announced date on Apple TV.
Killers of the Flower Moon finally has a release date
Filmmaker Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, is a historical drama about the serial targeting and murder of members of the oil-rich Osage tribe. It will open in limited theatres starting October 6. The film will then have a wide release on October 20.
Killers of the Flower Moon will break Martin Scorsese and LeonardoDiCaprio’so film record
The epic running time of Martin Scorsese’s new film Killers of the Flower Moon has been revealed.
Scorsese’s forthcoming movie is based on David Grann’s best-selling book of the same name. Also, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons.
The story explores an FBI investigation into a string of murders. It plagued the Osage Indian tribe in Oklahoma during the Twenties after oil they found on their land.
According to Variety, the film is ready to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. It will break records to become Scorsese’s longest film as well as DiCaprio’s.
While Scorsese’s previous film, The Irishman, clocked in at three-and-a-half hours. It’s being reported that Killers of the Flower Moon will hit the four-hour mark.
What are the Killers of the Flower Moon about?
Killers of the Flower Moon is adapted from journalist David Grann’s account of office years in the 1920s. During these twenty Indigenous Americans, all of the Osage tribe died in cold blood for their cash-rich oil shares — the so-called “Osage Reign of Terror”.
Implying close loyalty is close to the original text. So, the official synopsis puts special focus on the controversial then-head of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover. “Members of the Osage tribe in the United States were murdered under mysterious circumstances in the 1920s, sparking a major F.B.I. investigation involving [Hoover].”
Going by the cast sheet on IMDb, it doesn’t look like Hoover will have a physical presence in the movie. It is barring a surprise casting kept well under wraps during production. It is suggesting the drama will be led from the ground, tilting away from political bureaucracy.
