The NBA regular season is coming to an end as the race for the playoffs is still on. Eight teams will compete in the NBA Play-in tournament 2023. Four teams from the western conference and four teams from the Eastern conference will battle out over four days to confirm their spot in the NBA playoff’s.
In the Eastern Conference Miami Heat are chasing the Brooklyn Nets for the 6th seed which guarantees a playoff spot. Miami are currently ranked 7th in the East with a win loss record of 41-37. With three game left in the regular season Miami are likely to end as 7th seeded team.
The 8th, 9th and 10th spots are yet to be confirmed. Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls are the potential teams to battle out in the NBA play-in tournament.
In the West the spot for the playin tournament is wide open. Los Angeles Lakers raced their way into the top 10 after the trade deadline. The Lakers are chasing Golden State Warriors for the 6th seed. Golden State are holding a win loss record of 41-38. The Warriors need to win all their three games to stay at 6th seed.
Lakers hold a win loss record of 40-38 with three games to play the Lakers can go past the Warriors or end at 7th seed. New Orleans Pelicans are 8th seeded and are likely to qualify for the play-in tournament.
Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder fight for the 9th and 10th seed in the west. Timberwolves are likely to qualify for the play-in tournament. It leaves down to OKC and Dallas as they fight for the 10th seed.
NBA Play-in Tournament 2023: Format, Start Date
The NBA Play-in Tournament is scheduled from April 11th to April 14th. Eight teams six games and four playoff spots.
The 7th seeded team will play host to 8th seeded team on April 11th. The first matchup will be from the Eastern Conference while the 2nd matchup will be from the Western Conference.
The winner of the both the matchups advance to the playoff’s as seventh seeded teams in their respective conferences. The losers of the matches live to fight for a place in the playoffs.
The 9th seeded team will play host to 10h seeded team on April 12th. The first matchup will be from the Eastern Conference while the 2nd matchup will be from the Western Conference.
The winners of the matchups on April 12th will play against the losers of April 11th on April 14th for the final two playoff spots. The losing teams will play host to the winning teams on April 12th.
The winners of both the matches will advance to the playoff’s as eight seeded team. The losing team will be eliminated from the season.
NBA Playoff’s are scheduled from April 15th and the post season is expected to end on July 18th.
