Netflix cancels Sex/Life after 2 seasons days after the show’s star Sarah Shahi criticised the ‘gimmicky’ second season.
Also, Netflix has given the axe to its original drama series Sex/Life, Deadline reported on Friday.
The series had debuted its second season on the streaming service just five weeks earlier.
A spokesperson with the streamer told the publication that the second season. Which had a reduced number of six episodes compared to the first season’s eight episodes. It brought the show to a natural ending.
Sarah Shahi didn’t like Sex/Life season 2 either

It seems like there’s not much love lost between Sex/Life star Sarah Shahi and the recently released second season of the romantic drama. The star, who’s already booked the ABC pilot Judgement. She spoke to the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast about her experience making Sex/Life season 2.
The series first premiered in the summer of 2021. It became a hit thanks to an instance of full-frontal male nudity from Adam Demos going viral online like wildfire. Looking to recapture a bit of the viral magic with its follow-up season. Sex/Life featured more full-frontal nudity. Also, Shahi admitted to the podcast that she wasn’t super on board with a lot of season 2.
Shahi said during the podcast, “I did not have the support that I did in the first season from the people involved in the show. Also, it became a much different thing for me, and I’m not afraid to say that.” She went on to call the second season “gimmicky.”
Here’s what Shahi had to say about wanting to work more with Demos
“I was bummed that I wasn’t able to work with him as much because I liked our stories and I like working with him. He was a brilliant scene partner. Also, what ended up happening is I was working so much and he was working so little. He’s like, in 60 seconds of the entire thing. I never saw him.”
Even though they are together in real life, watching Billie and Brad together wouldn’t have taken away anything. So, considering Billie and Brad end up together in Sex/Life season 2. However, you would think the characters would have spent more time together in what could be the final season of the series.
With declined interest and Shahi already having a new series waiting in the wings. Sex/Life season 3 doesn’t appear to be in great standing for a renewal.

Sarah Shahi Spoke Out Against The Quality Of Season 2
We know Sarah Shahi for playing Billie in the hit Netflix series. Sex/Life spoke about his experience on the set of the show’s second season, which premiered last month. According to the actress, she did not feel as supported by those involved in the program as she did the first time.
However, Shahi disclosed this while speaking at the not skinny but not fat podcast. Despite saying that she is a “fan of the show”. There were a few things about the second instalment that she was “upset” about.
On the show, Shahi’s character is happy with two kids. She lives her best life near a white picket fence. So fantasising about her bad boy ex-boyfriend Brad, played by her real-life boyfriend Adam Demos. The first season offered plenty of steamy sex scenes between the two. Demos is conspicuously absent for much of season 2 as they feature a plot twist that comes up between his characters.
