It was announced at the end of last week that Apple would begin shipping its new iPhone 14 devices on Friday. Let’s say you don’t care about gold-plated or diamond-encrusted iPhones. Then, what is the maximum amount you can spend on an iPhone 14? The 6.7-inch Pro Max model of the iPhone 14 is the most expensive. It has the largest display in the lineup and all the bells and whistles.
In fact, the 14 Pro Max simply requires two selections: colour and storage capacity. Fortunately, there is no additional cost associated with choosing the phone’s color from the Deep Purple, Gold, Silver, or Space Black selections. However, storage is a completely different issue.
The entry-level iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $1,099 and has 128GB of storage. You will need to spend an additional $100 to double the capacity to 256GB. In order to do so, a second time will increase the cost to $1,399.
Effects of the price increase

You can’t blame Apple for thinking about boosting prices on the 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This is because a lot has happened since the $999/$1099 pricing structure was established with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Inflation and supply constraints have driven component costs higher than ever. With the pandemic, prices increased further.
However, those economic challenges are hitting more than just Apple. Nearly every purchase made by consumers now carries a higher price tag. They are therefore reducing their discretionary spending. According to Apple, the iPhone is a necessity for many consumers. If you have to make the purchase, you do so. Consumers will spend less elsewhere before giving up their smartphones. Even in times of economic uncertainty, iPhone sales can be robust, as demonstrated by Apple’s Q3 earnings figures.
But if a new iPhone is released and it costs even more than the previous one, this might not be the case. Users of iPhones who planned to upgrade this year may postpone or abandon their plans. People migrating from Android to iPhone may decide to use a less expensive iPhone model or continue using an Android phone. A cheaper iPhone model or an Android handset might be chosen by first-time smartphone buyers.
Will the iPhone 14 Max be the star of the show?
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max may be more expensive. But two more 14 versions will also be available starting next month. Nearly all features of the 14 will be comparable to those of the iPhone 13.
Apple will probably have trouble persuading the majority of iPhone 13, and perhaps even iPhone 12, customers to upgrade. Who is this year’s true show-stopper? The eagerly awaited 14-inch iPhone Max. This will be the first time Apple sells a 6.7-inch iPhone without the “Pro” tag, and my prediction is that it will do astronomically well in sales.
With the new 14 Max, you can purchase a 6.7-inch iPhone for less than $1,100. That too without having to deal with the “Pro Max’s” annoyances.
