In Rionegro, Colombia, on December 1, 1949, Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria was born. Escobar was born as the third of seven children to Hilda de Los Dolores Gaviria Berrio and farmer Abel de Jesus Dari Escobar Echeverri. He was raised in Medellin, where it’s believed that as a young adult, he started his criminal career.
He is also accused of selling fake diplomas and gravestones to local pickpockets. Escobar spent a brief period at the Autonoma Latinoamerican University studying but did not complete a degree.
