Sean Penn, who appeared in two episodes of Friends in 2001, called the late Matthew Perry a “talented guy” and praised him the last time they met. Penn shared on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Perry’s memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, delves into his decades-long struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. Friends do support each other.
Sean Penn mentioned that he hadn’t read Matthew Perry’s book but had watched “several” interviews about it. Penn expressed,
“He seemed to be talking about it, had confronted it, and was very intelligent and bold about it. And generously offering his experience to people to be helpful.”
Penn added,
“It’s tragic, I can’t say that I was terribly surprised. I don’t know what the whole coroner’s report things and everything, but I know he had done a lot of damage to his organs over the years.”
Matthew Perry, aged 54, was discovered dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home last month. Penn was definitely sad. His friend passed away, and it was not pretty. But legends never die at the same time. They stay forever and become immortal.
Penn’s grief was quite notable during his interview. Penn said Matthew Perry’s death was tough, but he left a lasting impact through his art. He brought joy to many with his talent, and Penn wishes his family well. Not just Penn, but a lot of other people also feel the void of his death very keenly. He was a phenomenal actor and one of the best.
