Dana, the protagonist of Kindred, is a young writer who visits Los Angeles. But that was unexpectedly dragged into a time loop that transports her back to a California plantation from the nineteenth century.

The third chapter of the novel, The Fall, acted as the final episode of the show’s first season. The next season will most likely begin with the events of Chapter 4: The Fight. Dana leaves Kevin in 1815 and does not return for five years.
Dana then goes in search of Kevin, and Rufus is sent to the residence. Their time apart, however, changes the nature of their relationship due to Kevin’s privilege as a white person.
Kevin and Dana then attempt to leave the property, but Rufus stops them and threatens them with a gun. They both travel back in time to present-day Los Angeles.
