As Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur rushed to the locker room, a security guard briefly stopped him in a strange encounter, and he wasn’t happy. LaFleur had a good reason to be pleased as Green Bay held a 23-6 lead over the 8-2 Detroit Lions. According to Fox Sports sideline reporter Tom Rinaldi, LaFleur expressed his displeasure, saying,
“That’s never happened to me ever in my coaching career.”
Rinaldi added,
“I was fully committed that I wasn’t going to be stopped.”
LaFleur eventually entered the locker room, but not before exchanging a few words with the security guard.
The guard and LaFleur bumped into each other in a moment captured on the FOX broadcast. The Packers coach glared back at the steward in frustration as he exited the field. This incident occurred during the Packers-Lions game, marking the start of the NFL’s Thanksgiving triple-header.
Fans speculated whether the guard mistook LaFleur for a fan attempting to run down the tunnel. One said, “He probably thought he was a fan that ran on the field.” Another commented, “I’m not sure why this happened; he’s on the sideline the entire game.” A third joked, “Better defence than the Lions.”
As per the FOX broadcast, LaFleur expressed that it was the first time he experienced such an incident. However, LaFleur’s frustration quickly turned to joy as the Packers secured a 29-22 victory against their division rivals. Jordan Love contributed to the win by throwing for 268 yards and three touchdowns, improving the Packers’ record to 5-6 this season.
On the other hand, the Lions suffered a setback, dropping to 8-3 after the unexpected home defeat. Well, all is good and healthy now. And the game is back on.
