With so many places around the UK to choose from, it can be hard to decide on the perfect place for your summer holiday. There’s lots to consider, like how far away your chosen location is and what it has to offer.
It all depends on your group size and what each of you wants to get out of the holiday. So, without further ado, join us as we show you just some of the best locations for your UK summer holiday.
1. Cornwall
Known for its picturesque sandy beaches and for being a surfing haven, Cornwall has one of the sunniest climates in the UK, due to the effects of the Gulf Stream. This means that warm ocean currents make snow and frost a rare occurrence – even during winter.
The south-west coast has the only sub-tropical climate in the UK, so you can expect to find palm trees by the beach!
You could visit the popular town of St Ives, or enjoy a luxurious stay at the likes of the Retallack Resort. Or, you could soak up the history of other major towns and villages in Cornwall, where castles, ruins and ‘areas of outstanding beauty’ make up the scenery.
2. Isle of Wight
Just off the south coast of the UK, the Isle of Wight is England’s largest island. The gorgeous location is just a short hop over the sea, by ferry, hovercraft or even seaplane! Once you’ve stepped foot on the island, you’ll find 57 miles of coastlines to explore. With sandy beaches, secluded coves, river estuaries and soaring cliffs, no two beaches are the same on the Isle of Wight!
Get stuck into the island’s heritage and history, see the famous Needles sticking out from the sea, or venture into some watersports. Enjoy family adventures and visit endangered animals at some of the island’s most unmissable attractions! This really is the perfect place for your UK summer holiday.
3. North Wales
It’s time to go further into the north of the UK now, but no further away from the coast. Where the mountains meet the sea, North Wales is home to sandy beaches, rolling hills and breath-taking views.
You’ll never be short of things to do in North Wales. You could trek up Mount Snowdon, or soar through the skies on one of Europe’s longest zip lines. There’s the Welsh Mountain Zoo and plenty of castles and ruins to explore. Not to mention the incredible countryside walks and trails that come with even more action-packed family adventures and days out.
Whatever you decide to do, North Wales will surely be the gift that keeps on giving this summer!
