Veteran UFC official Marc Goddard is well aware of this. Goddard’s career to date has allowed him to establish a solid reputation as a referee. On the other hand, he has also faced criticism from some supporters.
Combat sport refereeing is unquestionably one of the more demanding professions. Making judgments which will guide the fighters’ career in the future involves more than just the fight itself. One misstep on their part could have disastrous repercussions. This has happened frequently, especially in MMA, where a referee’s call can seriously hurt the competitors. Referees experience considerable blowback, and people question their trustworthiness. Therefore, contrary to what one may have assumed, it takes work.
Forrest Griffin, a retired UFC fighter, recently expressed skepticism about referees’ match roles. Goddard noticed this and offered the former fighter some advice on how referees do their duties.

Forest Griffin, a former UFC lightweight champion, recently questioned referees on Twitter regarding fighters’ “fouling tendencies” during games.

The Knowledgeable referee Marc Goddard replied:- “Forest. I can attest that after 23 years in the sport (now in my 19th year as a referee), I am still immersed in MMA and training. We are constantly observing, criticizing and discussing with each other. Review and reflection are ongoing. Perfection doesn’t exist; striving for it does.”
Marc Goddard emphasized in a tweet: “We are also impartial and across the board and cannot bring predetermined ideas into fights. It’s a blank canvas every time. Fighters can be tricky, play the game and push boundaries. Good refereeing experience, competence and common sense should be able to deal with any circumstance.”
Marc Goddard, who has been in the industry for over 20 years, is undoubtedly knowledgeable enough to ease any concerns. Given his extensive experience in the sport, he is familiar with all the ins and outs of refereeing. In actuality, at this stage, he’s a seasoned pro.
