Things for Travis Scott will never be the same again. Houston will never treat its native Travis Scott in the same way. The reason is what happened at the Astroworld Festival last year. Many families are still grieving the ones they lost. They continue to live with these wounds of the deceased. However, the 31-year-old rapper has escaped the accusation. He has “privately” settled a lawsuit.
We are talking about the family of Axel Acosta. Axel is one of the young victims of the mass crowd crush at Astroworld.
The settlement
Along with Live Nation, the 31-year-old rapper Travis Scott has ‘privately’ sorted out a lawsuit with the family of Axel Acosta. Axel was only 21. He died because of the mass crowd crush. In fact, it also took the lives of 10 people. All this happened at Travis Scott’s 2021 Astroworld concert. Without revealing the terms of the settlement, lawyer Tony Buzbee stated on Instagram that the claims initiated by the family of Axel Acosta against Travis Scott, Live Nation, and others involved in the Astroworld tragedy have settled.
Tony further announced that the terms of the reconciliation remain confidential. He finally said that the victim Axel Acosta was a cherished son, brother, and student. He was kind and affectionate. Tony further added that Axel is greatly missed. He urged the people to pray for his family.
Travis Scott: The lawsuit
Axel’s family asserted that the fans only went to Scott’s concert for fun. The families had no clue that their loved ones would enter a dangerous situation. In the lawsuit, the family also accused Travis of having a record of inciting violence through his lyrics. The family said that Travis encouraged fans to rush and violate security.
Indeed, during the Astroworld Festival, Travis went on with his concert. In fact, he even asked the fans to go wild. This was when the scene was already extremely chaotic. The “Antidote” singer might have privately settled this particular lawsuit. However, he is yet to release himself from a series of lawsuits concerning the incident. The concert left thousands injured. Ten people died. Reports say that Travis did not personally visit the family of the 21-year-old victim during the settlement.
The Astroworld 2021 concert
The concert transmuted itself into a horror soon afterwards. The show became a nightmare after 10 people died due to a mass crowd crush. Travis was performing in Houston. The date was the 5th of November, 2021. While chaos took over, Travis did not stop performing. He even stirred up the fans to go wild. The hospital stated that accidental ‘compressive asphyxiation’ claimed the lives of all ten people. Medical reports further announced that one of the ten heavily overdosed with a combination of drugs and alcohol.
Almost 25 people were hospitalized. More than 300 people sustained injuries. However, Scott continued to perform, ignoring the crowd pleading for him to stop. Reports state that the rapper encouraged the fans to unleash themselves and go crazy. Victims who died ranged from 9 to 27 years. News channels later spoke about Scott’s history of threatening disregard for audience safety.
Indeed, at Lollapalooza, Scott was indicted for disorderly conduct. This dates back to 2015. Scott provoked the fans to ignore security and rush the stage. During a 2015 concert in Arkansas, Scott was again guilty of inciting a riot and risking the welfare of a minor. As for Astroworld, it was the responsibility of Travis to control the crowd rather than fuel them up to go wild.
