Sunil Gavaskar, a former member of the India National Cricket Team, believes that Virat Kohli ought to have named the players who did not personally contact him after he gave up the Test captaincy. Earlier this year following the Test series loss to South Africa National Cricket.
At a press conference recently, Kohli made a significant admission: MS Dhoni was the only person to SMS him after he resigned as Test captain. He added that despite the fact that many people know his phone number. He has only ever received messages from Dhoni.
Sunil Gavaskar said in an interview with India Today that he is not aware of the atmosphere in the Indian team’s locker room. But Kohli should have ideally named players who didn’t message him following his resignation as Test captain. This is because it would have been fair to those who wished him after making the important decision.
“I don’t know what the dressing room situation was with all these other players, I think, ideally, if he is named one person who got in touch, maybe the other people who didn’t get in touch should have also been named. Then that would have been a little bit fair to everyone concerned rather than thinking everybody else didn’t get in touch with him,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
Will the current player ever criticize the current captain and coach?-Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar went on to remark that queries regarding the dressing room environment are “futile”. Because no player will ever speak out against the captain and coach.
“No, that I can’t say, that is his mindset, I am not a psychologist (Kohli still has captaincy thoughts?). I am just saying what I feel when I hear the comments coming about the current leadership. One of the most futile questions that I hear during an IPL Q and A session between the commentators and the Man of the Match asking about the current coach and the current captain.
Will the player ever speak negatively about the current captain and coach? That is a pointless inquiry. Nobody, not one person, will cut their career short by making a foolish remark about the current administration, Sunil Gavaskar continued.
