The former ‘Charles in Charge’, Baywatch star has been diagnosed with breast cancer, as she tells PEOPLE exclusively. Eggert further tells that she was diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in early December 2023, She further recalls gaining 25 lbs. in three months and having terrible pain in her left breast in October.

Initially, she assumed it to be symptoms of menopause, and on further breast self-examination, she felt to have a lump and thus decided to call her general practitioner, where she got advice to take the matter seriously and get it checked. All this took place in November, and then, following a discovery mammogram and three biopsies, Eggert’s reports turned out to be positive for cancer.

Eggert’s personal life and insights

Born on January 13, 1972, Eggert was born in Glendale, California. Her quest for stardom began when her mother entered her name in a beauty contest, where she won the title, and from then, there was no looking back for her as we all know her for her exceptional art, this date.

She never got married but was engaged to actor Corey Haim with whom she starred in Blown away, The Double O Kid and Anything for Love.

She, now has 2 daughters, Keegan, who is 12 year old and Dilyn, an adult who is 25 year old.

Nicole’s father battled skin cancer and her mother battled colon cancer, so she knows how it feels as she has seen her parents fighting hard for their lives. Her biggest fear is about her daughters, especially Keegan who is just 12 year old, she fears how bad her diagnosis would affect her little daughter as Nicole is a single mother and there is no one to look after her daughters.

Nicole’s dealings with and reaction to the disease

She feels overwhelmed due to cancer, and upon learning about it, she tells the PEOPLE that it was really throbbing and hurting. She finds her journey to be extremely tough as she tries hard every day to stay as calm as possible, if not for herself so at least for her daughters.

She further says that she try to keep herself positive by reading inspirational quotes and corny stuffs.

But many a times she gets panic attacks and thinks how the disease caught her, she tells, sometimes in the middle of her sleep she wakes up and talks to herself that, she needs to remove it, she talks to her inner body, to the disease to get out, to leave her body. She finds it difficult to deal with, at such times.

She further tells that every inch of her body feels that it’s there, it’s spreading in her body, making her weak. She just wants it to be out, leave her body.

Her fears

She fears the most about her daughters as she is a single parent and is aware of the struggles and whatever it takes to raise children single handedly. She fears that what would happen to her daughters, who will pay the bills, who will look after them if she does not succumb to it.

She also fears that her everyday hustle, everything she does to keep everything going might come to a halt if she does not feel well, if there is no sign of recovery.

Gratitude

The Baywatch alum’s friend Mindy Molinary has created a fundraiser called ‘GOFUNDME’ so that Nicole can get some financial aid to fight the disease. This act of Mindy would prove to be of great help for Nicole as she has got a lot to look after already, which includes her daily life stuffs, her daughters, their education and everything else, and to add to it she got diagnosed with a disease which would not only drain her physically but also financially, thus, her friend understood her situation in this tough time for which Nicole feels full of gratitude for her.

Nicole’s post-recovery endeavours

Nicole in this tough time understood very well how it feels, so she decided that after her recovery she will start a non- profit organization where she would help single parents, as she feels that she got so much love when she is in trouble and the non-profit organization would be kind of giving back to the people who are less fortunate.
