Once again, Teen Mom personality Ryan Edwards finds himself in legal trouble. On Tuesday, Edwards appeared in Hamilton County General Sessions Court, leading to his arrest, as confirmed by the County Clerk to The Messenger. Presently, he is held in custody at Tennessee’s Silverdale County Jail, with no bond being posted.
In April, reports from Us Weekly indicated that Edwards was discovered “unconscious and unresponsive in the driver’s seat of his truck.” Subsequently, in July, he was mandated to undergo treatment at CADAS Rehab in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The MTV personality faced a reckless driving charge in October, and on Nov. 6, as part of a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and drug possession, as reported by the Sun. Later in the same month, the Sun obtained video footage of Edwards being ejected from a bar on Nov. 25.
Ryan, 35, is currently held without bond, awaiting a court appearance on December 8. He pleaded guilty in November to DUI and possession charges stemming from an October incident. Facing additional drug possession initially, it was dismissed in a plea deal on November 6.
After the plea deal, Ryan and his rumoured girlfriend were involved in a bar altercation on November 25. In a December 5 hearing, District Attorney Coty Wamp expressed interest in Ryan passing a drug screening, noting the last one was on November 8. Ryan was also late for his vivitrol shot, a drug dependence treatment, potentially linking it to his behaviour at the bar on November 17.
Wamp explained that he underwent a drug screening yesterday, and they anticipate having the results by Friday. He mentioned that the state might consider seeking his custody if he doesn’t pass. Despite committing to providing a report on his ongoing care and follow-up, it was noted that he hadn’t fulfilled that obligation. It was also mentioned that if he doesn’t adhere to it by Friday, demonstrating attendance at AA meetings, and if he fails drug screens, the state would initiate the petition.
Judge Gary Starnes responded by asserting that Ryan would be taken into custody, stating that he had been instructed to comply, and the judge’s patience had worn thin. The judge remarked that Ryan had been given numerous chances and emphasized that the results would be available on Friday.
