The short answer to this question is yes! In fact, you may be surprised to learn just how critical sleep is. It’s an essential function that enables your mind and body to recharge, ensuring you’re alert, refreshed, and rejuvenated when you wake up in the morning.

If you’re struggling to get the sleep you need, Betway online casino recently revealed 10 of the best activities for a good night’s sleep. Some of the suggestions include listening to music, watching a comedy film, doing a face mask, and meditation.

Why do you need to get a good night’s sleep?

1. Stronger immune system

Sleep helps your body to recover, regenerate, and repair. If you get a good night’s sleep, your body has the opportunity to heal and strengthen.

2. Lower inflammation

If you wake up throughout the night and go to bed at inconsistent times, it can disturb your body’s natural process of regulating inflammation.

3. Sleep helps to prevent depression

The connection between mental health and sleep is something that’s been researched for many years now. One analysis from 2016 deemed that insomnia had a significant link to depression. Depression risk increases because of the cognitive alterations that occur when someone doesn’t get sufficient sleep. Sleep disturbance can also impair emotional stability and regulation.

4. Reduce your chances of getting heart disease

High blood pressure is a risk factor for heart disease. If you get sufficient sleep per night, it enables your body’s blood pressure to self-regulate. You can also promote better overall health, as a good night’s rest lowers your chances of developing apnea and other conditions relating to sleep.

5. Greater athletic performance

Sleep is critical for anyone participating in sport, as your body heals while you’re sleeping. You can expect better mental functioning, faster speed, better reaction times and accuracy, more energy, and better endurance if you get between seven and nine hours of sleep per night.

6. Maintain a healthy weight

There have been a number of studies throughout the years that have linked poor sleep patterns with obesity. A study from 2018 indicated that individuals who sleep less than seven hours a night are more likely to have a high BMI, which stands for Body Mass Index. Furthermore, if you’re fatigued due to a lack of sleep, your desire to exercise will reduce.

7. Quality sleep improves how your brain functions

Sleep disruption can impact cognition. It can also reduce your judgment, decision-making, emotional reactivity, and focus, as well as your memory processing and formation.

Time to get a better night’s sleep!

As you can see, getting sufficient sleep is critical for maintaining optimal health and well-being. Like a balanced diet and exercise, sleep can also help in preventing a number of health problems, from depression to heart disease.
