In recent years, we have eagerly seen several trucks emerge, like the GMC Canyon and Ford Ranger, but what all of us are excited about and waiting for is the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma. The Taco, among the popular trucks, has always been the best choice. The driving enthusiasts are very excited about the added-on features of this new vehicle. They are eagerly waiting to see the improved performance, refined driving dynamics and mostly to experience better fuel economy. Finally, the wait is over. Toyota launched the 2024 Tacoma pickup in Hawaii.
The TNGA-F Platform in Tacoma
The company is switching to a new truck version for its off-road trucks and SUVs. Toyota has introduced Toyota New Global Architecture, the TNGA- F platform. It joins Tundra and Sequoia on that platform with its boxes steel ladder frame.
However, we don’t have clear details about how it feels when you drive the new Tacoma. Judging the platform from the Tundra, the new platform must feel lighter and crisper with improved riding quality.
2024 Tacoma Drops the V6 and Adds the Hybrid
Toyota has decided to drop the V6 engine from the Tacoma lineup. All 4th generation Tacomas feature a turbocharged 2.4-litre inline-four, an 8-speed automatic and a base tuning with 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. The two versions of the mid-grade i-Force engine are the manual and automatic.
The engine is not the i-Force Max V6 from the Tundra. Rather, the top engine is the i-Force Max with the 2.4-litre inline-four. It does put out the 326 horsepower and a monstrous 465 lb-ft of torque. These shall deliver a lot more torque than their counterparts, improving their fuel economy.
Will the 2024 Toyota Tacoma be redesigned?

Yes, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is fully redesigned and upgraded. The new Tacoma will come with a total of eight trims this time, which it calls the “grades”. Six from the previous generation, which include the SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro, are now paired with two new ones. They are the Trailhunter and the reintroduced PreRunner Model.
The Trailhunter is in the high-end overlanding trim, which Toyota describes as more Baja-style. The new grade comes with unique features. Old Man Emu by ARB shocks, hot-stamped steel skid plates over the transmission and rear differential, an onboard air compressor, a high-mount air intake, and frame-mounted rock rails are the key features.
A choice of off-road racers to scout the course, the “PreRunner” returns for this generation. It is a truck modified for that sort of purpose. This 4×2 truck has off-road modes that include a front suspension lift, twin-tube shocks, 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and an electronic locking differential.
2024 Toyota Tacoma has Upgraded Interiors
Toyota has introduced changes in the interior of the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma which looks much similar to the ones it made with the Tundra and Sequoia. This model is much more tech-forward with the available 14-inch touchscreen. The company differentiates its grades with pops of trims and certain specific features.
Though it now has an electric parking brake, the Tacoma still sticks to the truck interior basics, like the big shifter and big buttons. It hardly appears in the first sitting that the Tacoma has dramatically improved its cabin space; the rear still feels tight.
The New Two-Door Model
The four-door double cab Tacoma comes with either a short bed or a long bed, but with the new two-door Xtra Cab model, we have the 6-foot bed. This is available for the SR and SR5 and is only available for the PreRunner.
A Coil-Sprung Multi-Link Rear Suspension
Toyota has decided to upgrade the Tacomas to a coil-sprung multi-link rear suspension like the Tundra. However, SR, SR5 Xtra Cab and PreRunner will still have their leaf springs standard. This time, Toyota has focused on suspension tuning to differentiate its higher grades.
It has introduced unique suspension setups for the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Trailhunter and Limited trims. To provide extra stopping power and electric power steering, the Tacoma adds four-wheel disc brakes.
What is the new Tacoma Tow?
Although the specifications for all the engine types are not yet revealed, the new i-Force engines are equipped with an automatic transmission that can tow up to 6,500 lbs, while it drops to 6,000 lbs for the i-Force Max. Toyota says that the payload capacity is now 1,709 lbs, and the bed now takes 7% more volume. The 2024 Toyota Tacoma has a maximum ground clearance of 9.5 inches with a maximum running ground clearance of 11 inches.
