Linda Yaccarino, X CEO, is trying to publicly Bach Elon Musk after he explicitly said “go f*ck yourself” to the advertisers. The incident happened during an onstage interview yesterday at The New York Times DealBook Summit. The fans are excited with the release of the first trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI. After Elon Musk’s comments about the game, the CEO is performing some damage control.
Musk, who in recent days has endorsed antisemitic content on the platform alongside other conspiracy theories, like the debunked Pizzagate, has threatened lawsuits against Media Matters, the Center for Countering Digital Hate and the Anti-Defamation League, claiming their reports are scaring advertisers off the platform.
The GTA 6 trailer is on its way to breaking YouTube viewing records after the 90-second video was viewed over 70 million views just hours after release. The company behind the fan-favourite franchise, Rockstar Games, was forced to release the trailer earlier than planned. Its marketing plans were scuppered after the trailer was leaked on X/Twitter.
GTA 6 is the top trending topic in several countries around the world. Twitter owner and tech billionaire Musk took the opportunity to dump on the game, saying he never played it because he “didn’t like doing crime”. The tweet seemed to have Twitter CEO Yaccarino doing damage control. This was after she urged Rockstar Games to release the trailer directly onto X/Twitter, as opposed to their own YouTube channel.
The CEO posted screenshots of viewing figures comparing the number of views of Rockstar Games’ X/Twitter post with the YouTube link with the number of views the YouTube video had received. The former appears to have around 30 million more views. The trailer was leaked ahead of time, and somehow Musk missed the opportunity to grab the credits.
